I think we reach 12 wins this season.

We will see if the steelers are better or not.Last year,it was the worst afc north season ever.If the ravens bounce back and Burrow stay healthy and their defense is not hot garbage,it will be much harder to win the north again. Usually, you need at least 12 wins to win the AFC North, but that wasn't the case last year.

We have put more around him and he won't be playing with a broken forearm. Much better offensive scheme as well.

While the point is valid, normally they want a quality backup and not a Mason Rudolph low floor/low ceiling nothing-burger. They can get the same performance off another teams practic-sqaud.

I honestly can't see the better of Howard or Allar being any worse than Rudolph who should be a QB3 on a bad team, not a QB2 on a playoff-aspiring team.

What is with the love of the below-average MR? That one nice pass he threw two years ago?

They grabbed the best guard in the draft. Stanley returns at tackle. Rosengarten blanked Watt just a season ago. Their weakness is center. And there are rumors they will go after AJ Brown hard after PHI releases him. Paired with Flowers and it's a tough matchup for any secondary.

The only problem with that is our D has more problems with him on the edge .Getting him on the run faster may make him more dangerous to us ..3 of the Rats favorite plays are QB Power to the outside , zone read with QB to the outside and QB sprint draw to the edge as well ...So IMO having new guys inside will not effect him as negatively as it would other QB'S ..

Again did You read the whole post of mine that You quoted, or did You get to Mason, and stop?
Because again someone is making this a Mason thing, when clearly I wasn't. It was a experienced Qb thing.

I'm not sure we are better, but the point is nobody knows. Nobody knows if we can, or can't make a run, I guarantee everyone that says we can't make the SB didn't have NE, and Seattle picked in the SB at this time last year. Nobody knows so I'm hoping we can. If McCarthy is better than Tomlin than we should be better, we shall see, and I'm hoping for the best.

I want to see what a coach preparing a gameplan for an opponent vs doing what we do looks like and if that needle starts trending up then I will make some inferences until then hope springs eternal and all that.

I don't know the NFL may try to block this trade because of the Vrabel-Russini storyline.

Any June 1st cuts people are watching?

So you're saying it's you, not me? :smiley1:

It's not a contest man. I'm not trying to really win something. I thought we were just having a conversation. You came at me hard and I just responded back like you did. I didn't mean anything by it.

You and I agree on the vast majority of stuff here and I like you as a poster. We have to disagree on something once in a while.:drinks:

His season in Tennessee. He's never had a 16 or 17-game season, but that's because he isn't good.

Brown isn't likely to be released. There has been a lot of talk that they already have a trade in place, but have to wait until June 1. One rumor was the Patriots. The other is a deal with the Jaguars for Brian Thomas.

My friend stop listening to people, and watch. Do you honestly think We played the same schemes, and dictated personnel for Burrow the same as we did Lamar Jackson??? Hell I see differences every game , not only in scheme, but implementing of personnel . If You actually ran the exactly same scheme game to game to game, I could out coach you, and You wouldn't win any games. The $hit people believe.

My particular pov on this isn't given to me by the opinions of others nor has it really been a generally accepted opinion by most other fans. It came from watching the team perform, listening to players and Tomlin himself. I think Tomlin as a head coach, not as a position coach or defensive coordinator but as a head coach has a philosophy of one plan fits most. He believed that when his team executed they had the advantage. Now thanks to hard knocks we know he installs little points/players of emphasis to look for but doesn't allow anything to change what they do. This translated to the offense with Ben to go out at practice and have a game of catch. Is that an oversimplification? Yep but ask yourself do you remember any beat report or player interview in the last 20 years where they talked about practice a play over and over again until it was muscle memory. Did they have Packers power sweep? Did DJ ever say I dropped two passes in the game so coaches made me run that play and catch that ball until my hands hurt?

The dreaded "do what we do"

This comes directly from Tomlin himself and he owned it. Long term reluctance to change his one size fits most plan. They went into A game vs the Chargers with two dominant edge rushers and when asked about the Chargers oline being decimated by injury and signing two guys off the street to play right and left tackle and if it would affect their preparation. Tomlin said nope we gonna do what we do. In a situation where any coach looks at the opponent and goes Im going to ratchet up the pressure my guys can generate and cause havoc with those two tackles Tomlin didnt and made those two look like Thomas and Hutchinson.

Cooper Rush in prime time facing a Steelers defense he has never played before and again they are going to do what they do. Cooper looked like Tom that night and comfortable all night long.

Every season since Myles Garrett has been in the league the Steelers hve consistently not prepared their tackles and guards with how to handle him. Guys have had success sometimes others not so much but they dont change what they do to account for him.

So to answer your question yes I think they have a Burrow wrinkle or a Jackson wrinkle but nothing changes the standard plan.

Now from what I've heard and viewed recently on MM he is the type to go hey there are two inexperienced 3rd string ILB's starting in this game so my game plan is going to be attack the seams with my te's, slants from my slot guys and rb wheel routes to attack that weakness. Then on defense Im going to allow my DC to craft a plan that gets after the weak areas in their offense including moving Watt and Highsmith around.

We have to hope a quick injury to a playoff-aspiring teams backup that leaves them absolutely devoid at QB2 and lets them talk themselves into Rudolph as being a competent NFL backup QB. I suppose he could fit that criteria, if you squint REALLY hard.
