And in breaking news Aaron Rodgers actually signed

I’m surprised one of the usual characters didn’t make a new post on this

I said how many? I know all about Russell Wilson, and how they paid money to their Matt F, and started Russell anyway, I was watching football, but that my point, it's not done very much, matter of fact throughout all the Qbs that have ever started in the NFL, if You could give me a list of 20 , that would still not be very much.

Some dummy keeps saying he can’t move to LT because he never protected the quarterback’s blind side

I’ve heard dummer things but not many

Some dribble about his college QB being left handed

They were up and it was probably by design as it was a windy in the stadium. It was a very conservative game plan on offense which would have worked had the Steelers defense stopped the Bears after Steelers were up. Bears went up 31-21. Mason made it 31-28 and was driving when Steelers had that ill fated illegal formation penalty and a holding penalty that nullified big gains. Against Cincinnati When Mason came, Steelers were only up 10-9 (Bengals having missed on two point conversion earlier in the game). That was essentially a tied game when he came in. Cincinnati coaching staff has faced Rudolph 3 times over previous two years. They know him pretty well. If you think they cannot adjust their plan over halftime, you must be slow to think everyone is same. The fact is Rudolph's QB rating with the Steelers since 2023 is 106.9 including playoff game against Bill and game against Bears (both away games). That is better than most starters in the league.

Oh… so the Steelers need to tank for a season because they’ve historically not traded up? Think about what you just typed

The steelers had 2 defensive TD against the bengals in the second half and one against the bears.

You realize he wasn't protecting his quarterback's blind side when he played left tackle in college, right? His quarterback was a lefty.

Yeah, he forgot that part. Also, nobody said he can't move to left tackle in the pros because he didn't protect his quarterback's blind side in college, but misrepresenting people's posts is a big part of what some folks here do. (You aren't one of them.)

It is a factor to consider before we assume he will play well at left tackle in the NFL. We already saw him struggle in pass coverage at times last season, especially in the playoff game. That is magnified if he is protecting the quarterback's blind side, something he didn't gain experience doing when he was playing with Penix.

No, 10-9 is not a tie game. Just because reality doesn't fit what you want it to be doesn't mean you get to make up your own. Rudolph got to play with a lead the entire time and got two defensive touchdowns to help him out. The coaches and many of the players may have seen him, but they game-planned for Rodgers. How do you not know that makes a difference? That he had slightly better numbers under those circumstances against a terrible defense is irrelevant.

I cant believe there is handwringing about Fautanu. I have no doubt that guy will be a stud. I think the line overall is in very good shape and very deep.

Putting Cook temporarily at RT will not be as big of a drop off as compared to him starting at LT

He was really bad in that playoff game. You can largely argue that was because the offensive line was getting ass blasted into the 5th dimension, but he can't move when that happens.

Yes, he played better than any QB since Ben, but that is a wildly low bar to clear. At some point, they will need to pick relatively highly to have any chance at a high end QB prospect. If we want to become an actual championship contender, we'll need to have a losing season.

The ultimate goal should be winning a championship--not winning one playoff game like that's some major accomplishment.

Last I checked Buffalo, Baltimore, and Kansas City all were able to get their QB without having a losing season.

Why always take the hardest path?

The most unlikely path to having one?

Of course it is possible. Baltimore got incredibly lucky, and the other two had to give up a lot of draft capital to move up. Obviously, nobody would have any issue doing that but you need a deep QB draft (which hopefully happens next year).

My only point is that Rodgers isn't good enough to take us anywhere meaningful, but good enough to keep us in the QB wilderness going into next year. I am hoping I am wrong, but if that's how this season ends up, this signing was a mistake.

So, better to just intentionally lose and sacrifice a season for a < 50/50 chance that the QB you draft high actually works out? And if he doesn’t, just tank another season to get another one. Rinse, repeat.

You are so preoccupied with intentionally losing.
