How many assistant coaches were under Jeff Fisher on the McVay's staff during McVay's early years with the Rams?

Bill Cowher was the one who signed Bruce Arians to come to Pittsburgh in 2004... I don't think he would have become our OC if Arians had been on another team from 2004 to 2006... And Tomlin likes continuity, which is a good thing when things are going very well like it was the case during this period

 

The most overrated coach with the highest winning percentage in Steelers history, also tied with Noll for the most regular season wins in Steelers history .

And if Tomlin didn't promote Arians to OC, does he go on to get those other opportunities to become OC and HC later on .

 

See how some of you can't answer a question, but have to make up a different question. How is the HC of the Vikings, and the Packers considered McVay coaching trees, and Arians isn't??? Neither started with McVay as coaches in the NFL, hell one was a OC before McVay, and after McVay before he got a HC job, but somehow just because he was under McVay at one time He McVay coaching tree. LoL . Yet this same thing doesn't apply for Tomlin. Either some of You are purposefully being ignorant, or You honestly don't see the hypocrisy.

Arians would likely not become a head coach if he would not been with the colts when their head coach was out for 3 months because of a cancer and Arians become the interim head coach and won the coach of the year

That's my point if he stayed at WR coach instead of Tomlin promoting him, he probably doesn't get those other opportunities down the road .

 

A lot can happen in 4-5 years in the NFL... I don't think Arians would have stayed another 4-5 years with the Steelers as just a WR coach because he would have had options as an OC on other teams

Mike Tomlin’s Legacy.

Mediocre Tomlin did not hire Bruce Arians. In fact, in his 19 years as head coach, not a single assistant he hired ever left to become a head coach somewhere else. Zero. That’s an NFL record.

The man has no coaching tree. Meanwhile, not winning a single playoff game for eight in a row years ties another ugly NFL mark for a head coach.

That’s the “standard” that remains the standard. Tomlin stepped away from the team while still under contract — quite possibly to dodge a 9th straight season of playoff futility and the growing heat that came with it.Yes, he won a Super Bowl in his second year. But let’s be honest: that 2008 team was built on Bill Cowher’s foundation — something like 21-22 starters drafted or signed under Cowher, plus most of his coaching staff. The real stars on that sideline were defensive mastermind Dick LeBeau and offensive coordinator Bruce Arians. Not Tomlin.IMO, Tomlin was the least impressive of the three key coaches on that Super Bowl team. He inherited a loaded roster, rode it to a ring, and then spent the next decade+ proving he couldn’t build anything close to that level again.

 

I started a thread a few years back stating that I don't think Tomlin will ever win another playoff game, be it with the Steelers or another team, and I still stand by that. Although, he might get lucky again and inherit a talented team with an elite QB. In that case, he might be able to pull off another playoff win. If he has to rebuild a team with a scrub QB, he'll never even sniff another playoff win.
