Predicting who goes where is extremely complex because there are so many moving parts. Evaluating the players is still difficult, but many of the variables are removed.

 

This assumes the Steelers' board was right. At best, that is a dubious assumption.

True, but not the point being made here. The argument many come up with is that you shouldn't take the Xth best at this position when you could have had the Yth best at another, as if those are measurable terms. The post I responded to talks about rating players in tiers. Based on what we've heard, it looks like the Steelers had Max high, and if they rated Bernard not too far behind the group of Lemon, KC, Cooper etc. then they did well on their board.

I heard he's been getting all the starting reps, and he has actually looked better than the rest. LoL. It would be awesome if they were tricked into extending his contract.

Agreed. And to further complicate it is an idea I heard discussed today, which is obvious but was stated very well. The right board is different for each team, not just because of position, but because of coaching and style etc. Allar is a good example. I'm sure there are a lot of teams that Allar could go to and flop because of a staff who won't know how to develop him. There may also be coaches who can turn him into a top 5 QB - and anywhere in between.

 

It is optimistic to say there is any coaching staff that can turn Allar into a top-five quarterback, but I get your meaning, and that is a good point.

 

Give some creidt to the media heads. After all they got two right.

I guess to be more accurate, there will be coaching staffs who'll say that they can see the flaw in someone's game and know how to fix it. Whether or not that's going to work out is always yet to be seen, but there will always be someone who thinks they can.
