That is 10 wins a year.

His tenure was highlighted by three consecutive 12-win seasons from 2021 to 2023, making him the first coach in Cowboys history to achieve that feat

He did this with Dak Prescott as his QB, which I find impressive as he is not a franchise QB.

You don't have a clue what's about to happen with McCarthy as coach.

What if medicine is exactly what the team needs?

What if it's a sweet dessert?

Why don't we just see what happens before we announce that McCarthy will be a disaster.

Heck yes I got my wish. Tomlin himself is the only reason he is gone. Eight years in a row with no playoff wins. Try that hat on for size.

Yeah I’ll take that delicious tasting medicine all day. Not sure what we are supposed to be regretting.

Moving on from a guy that he and the team were clearly in a rut and going no where or trying something different even if it is another retread at HC. Yeah I’ll try the later.

Well even worst case, if the 2026 season is a catastrophe, the next draft should be a strong one to get your QB of the future.

I have never liked McCarthy. Reminds me of a toad with his fat head and weird eyes. But he is a good offensive mind in this league.

The worry is Graham. His defenses in Vegas were consistently in the mid 20s in scoring against. Four years is enough time to where his defense should have shown some growth in league rankings. And I suspect his hiring shows that McCarthy is still more an OC than a head coach, even now after years of serving as a head coach.

Graham is my concern too. He isn't good. And the Steelers don't have a single player on the defense who is in his prime and an elite player.

Dak Prescott is not awesome, but he's 5 times better than any Qb we've had since Ben retired.

Dak Prescott is definitely a franchise QB. Statistically, he's ranked the 5th best QB in the NFL. If that's not a franchise QB, I don't know what in the hell is.

How do we define coaching tree and who are the 5?

Also...did the higher number in McCarthy's coaching tree lead to more team success?

ETA: Stating my own biases here. (1) I think "coaching trees" are pretty poorly defined and generally guys who are somehow related to big names like Parcells and Walsh get credit for any successful coach that passes through and (2) I don't think that having a coaching tree leads to team success. To the extent that these things are correlated, I think it's success leads to coaching trees not that coaching trees lead to success (e.g., look at all Billy B's assistants got hired and didn't do anything in the new job).

I think he quit because he didn't want to tarnish his legacy further. He has not won a playoff game for 8+ years in a row. If he coached next year he would stand alone and own the record. And that hurt would hurt his HOF chances.

Tomlin knew his stick had become worn out. So with a year left on his contract he quit with a singed contract without a TV goodbye to the fans. No media questions either!

Now Mr. duplicate threads this is not a Mike Tomlin thread. We have had enough of them. Feel better now?

Not bad for a 4th round draft pick. Cowboys got good ROI on that draft pick... but Prescott has their salary cap under siege.

Would you want any of those guys from the Belichick tree as your HC?

Josh McDaniels has proven himself to be a legit OC with the recent development of Drake Maye. Patriots success was due to Tom Brady being the acting OC/QB in the 2nd half of his career and Belichick who was a highly skilled DC with HC title. 6 rings are proof it worked quite well.

Look dude, you are a 65+ year old man who lives in a junky small town and likely does not have the education on my level. That is a 4 year degree , with various licenses such as a series 7 and 63. I also have various technical certifications by IBM, Akamai, Citrix and of which are major companies.

More importantly on this board is painfully obvious you football acumen is lacking. It might interest you to know that the mods PM'd me to ignore you and your past transgressions. Don't take the bait they said. You have issues.

Another poster called out the lying about PM's. You ran away... Does that ring any bells, Pavlo? ( Pavlo's dog )

All you have is sophomoric comments on crayons and the 5th grade . I suggest you get a new act. I say let the football rule.

I have said that if you do author a good post with football content I will give it a thumbs up.

That's their own stupidity though, not Prescott's fault, and actually that's a league wide phenonmenom with several worse QB's having a similair affect on their teams payroll. Some of them aren't even on that team anymore.

What you post is not true (again)

The poster in question moved the goal posts and twisted the truth as usual to try to save face

I had no need to prove it

I have some mild concerns, but given he's replacing inept Tomlin/Austin combo, all needles and graph charts are pointing UP ^

Heck, if I were DC it'd still be pointing up.
