nope,he could go back to the right side. beachum played a pretty solid game at LT that night.

I will say the holding call on adams was BS. for what they let teams get away with against JH, this was childs play comparably.

I wanna give some props to chris hubbard too. he looked much better game two then he did game one. he played LT all through college, they have him at LG now. he's aweful light though, but he moves well.

we just keep plugging away with these guys, this isn't something you learn in 5 minutes.

the run game looks decent, but TH really isn't using it to his advantage to help our linemen. probably because they haven't game planned yet. you have to mix it up. I see a lot of what we did last year. run, run and ben make a 3rd down conversion when they know we have to pass.

I actually do see improvements on this OL and contrary to popular belief we will have a good OL this year-

    1) This is a young OL and they just need reps to build the co-hesiveness and trust they need to be one solid unit.
    2) New OL coach- they need to understand what he's teaching and he needs to learn their strengths/weakness
    3) They are learning the zone blocking scheme/outside but they are also still using man-to-man blocking scheme and still utilizing the counter trap.
    4) ITS PRESEASON- they are trying different schemes and combos of players to determine the best scenario in situational football.

Remember, the backs and QBs are also learning with them.

If there is still an issue come week 4 we're in trouble.

I agree. When we played the Chargers last year they had an assemble of misfits and they kept our dline at bay. Maybe that lies the problem, our oline goes against our dline during practice and they aren't that good either.

Another problem is we don't even have personnel to switch anyone around. The starting 5 is who we are going with regardless how they play. Someone mention putting beachum at RT but I don't think he's that much better than Gilbert.

Maybe slide Pouncey over to guard and putting Malecki at center and put Foster on the bench. I'm not saying we should do this but just thinking of another lineup if something would to happen to some people that is not performing.

Well, lets review their last game, Foster-Holding penalty-Gilbert-holding penalty-Pouncy-hands to the face penalty-Adams-Holding Penalty- Decastro -Holding penalty, as a group they get an F for run, pass blocking, and penalties: I cant remember seeing all 5 individual players on the oline getting penalties in a game before, it reflects directly to poor coaching and bad execution by the the players....I don't care if we win a preseason game, but I do care if I don't see any improvement in the areas we keep under performing in, and under performance in this preseason, seems to be a team wide problem...

I said beachum at LT. his man never touched a qb last game. also no penalties. that has to count for something. why sit one of your best 5 because you might need him later? i'm not saying he's all-pro but he's doing what he's out there to do.

You might be on to something. I would like to see Beachum against some starters though. I think he played against backups.

    Elvis Dummervil against Marcus Gilbert
    Terrel Suggs against Mike Adams

Do we need to start praying now?

like I said he did what he was put on the field to do. keep his man off the qb. he can't determine who they put across from him.

Like I said in a different thread a couple weeks ago, WE have serious QB career ENDERS right here in our division. Remember Troy Aikmen, the LB from Penn State and North Hills high can't remember his name ended Troy's career. Could that happen to Ben?

This is what scares me the most this season. Our line against the serious QB career Enders. I have a hard time with Ben making it thru the season with our line, especially with Adams and Gilbert at the tackle position. On pass plays I find myself looking at the tackles to see how bad they are getting beat and how much time Ben will have. You shouldn't have to watch the tackles after the snap. This will eventually have a negative effect on Ben.

i posted my doubt on gilbert and adams 2 months ago , gilbert is a backup swing tackle at best and adams not more than a right tackle , right now i would put beachum at left , i hope they find a veteran cut before the season start

The last game I saw a little better technique, but then the penalties started. The O line needs to know penalties are drive killers most of the time.

Question, what has been the primary o-line lineup on punts? :hmmm:

yEAH, but when they are getting beat that bad, I would rather have a "drive killer", than a "qb killer"...
It`s a shame, but I`m looking at it kinda like a D back that gets beat, and gives up the "pass interference", rather than let his man beat him for a touchdown.
Why did you think I was talkin about you, William Gay???LOL...
I agree, until these kids can figure out how to stop their opponents from gettin to Ben, without commiting a penalty,
We`re in for a long, painful season.
And Ben will probably thank them in private, for every penalty they have to commit, to keep his 30 yr old body off the ground...
    Not good...
    GO STEELERS!!!!:yeehaw:

I also blame this "Position Flexibility". What other team flops thier line around this much and calls it an advantage?

Figure out where a guy is best, stick him there and let him get his rythm and then if thew other guy can't hack his spot, go out and get someone who's better than him at that position! Quit trying to have a jack-of-all-trades line where everyone is interchangeable at multiple positions!

You can build a line of 5 guys that are O.K. at their position or 3 that are good/excellent and 2 O.K's. Which one do you take?

a lot of teams move guys around. ravens the defending SB champs, took Michael oher and flopped him to the right side. Robert gallery has played both tackles and guard. kevin boothe for the giants has played center and guard. jah reid has played both tackles and guard. that's just a few of many that do it.

what I do see from this group that the old group didn't do well is, stay after guys as ben runs around. I used to see to many times max and colon and kemo standing around watching as ben ran for his life. this bunch stays active during the complete play. that is a good thing.

it's coming along. beachum helps if they continue the TE experiment. he looked like the RT most of the time he was playing that position, more so than gilbert. the more they do it the better. at least until heath is back.

as I've said, baby steps with this group. they are the youngest starting line since 1957.
