This is turning into one of those awful threads where people are taking sides on Howard or Allar.

Why the hell is anyone taking sides. We don't know what either guy is going to do at this level, but we already have people here trashing Allar and anointing Howard the guy.

I have no problem with Howard being at the top of the depth chart. Howard has already been with the team for a full season and has a much better idea of how to play and prepare, plus we really need to see what he can do while Allar starts to develop and learn.

I just don't understand fans getting angry, bitter, and defensive about who may be quarterback out of the two recent draft picks. We should be hoping they are both great and other teams are backing up the truck full of draft picks to acquire one of them in a trade in 2 years.

"Allar had dogs at wide receiver for his entire career. There are times you are watching Penn State play and he has nowhere to go with the ball. Every throw needs to be perfect because they get no separation. The receivers make route running mistakes, and the coaching and offensive systems have been abysmal."

    Sounds like us last year!!

Put Howard in Penn State offense and Allar in Ohio State offense with all of those highly rated receivers, there's a reason Howard lasted until the sixth round.

I remember Allen was known as a boom bust prospect who also struggled with accuracy. It worked out for Allen.

There is always a chance, if there is a coach to do it, it would be McCarthy.

Allar has a lot of work to do.

In football, history usually wins. Always exceptions but more than the exceptions, history wins more than the majority of the time.

Sam Darnold is the first QB in NFL history to win an NFL title out of USC. USC is arguably the greatest football factory for the NFL, ever. 1st time in 138 years.

And even with the win, is Sam great? No. He Brad Johnson'd and Trent Dilfer'd in this Super Bowl. That happens once in a while and Seattle hit at the perfect moment.

Will Howard and Drew Allar are OSU and PSU quarterbacks. Both college football factories for the NFL that have never produced a great quarterback, ever. The best Penn St quarterback I know is Kerry Collins and the best OSU QB at the moment might still be Mike Tomczak if CJ Stroud continues to regress.

So, unless the Steelers time their run correctly with the best defense and perfect managed offense and everyone is on board and all the stars align, they likely aren't going to have the same scenario like the Seahawks this year.

Steelers organization has shown that they are still making bad decisions. Look at the Makai Lemon situation. That guy is a diva punk. Philly saved the Steelers ass by jumping ahead of them. Steelers can not help themselves. They think like pro-socialists. "This time it will work, because we will tweak it a little". Ya, no. The Steelers have never been able to deal with the diva receiver. And even when Antonio Brown was right in front of the camera, it didn't work to a title behind it.

Sad thing about this whole thing is Will Howard and Drew Allar will likely battle it out for the 1 spot after Rodgers hangs them up.

They will get destroyed and ridiculed by Steelers fans and the media when the base of everything in Pittsburgh is flawed and the fact that their lineage has screamed for a long time that they aren't franchise QBs, won't matter when it should.

Will Howard and Allar be the exceptions? They could. But it's not likely. And the blame has to continue to be at the feet of ownership and their inability to lead in this era of football. This is a team that had a medicore coach for a decade and were delusional til the end about his ability and it took HIM to step down because the crowd around him finally burned him out.

And it further explains why allowing medicore minded people to share the wealth of a league in the name of "fairness". That mindset is a determent to progress in any product or business.

The Bidwells, McCaskeys, Spanos, now the Rooneys are starting to climb into those horrible ownerships, this is what happens when sharing wealth with medicore people can ruin the products. You reward mediocrity and fan passes in Arizona, Chicago, LA/SD and now Pittsburgh have to sit there and watch a horrible product because there is no way that ownership will ever be tested to do well because his or her seat is solitfied by the shared reward of a handful of ownerships who decided to spread the wealth. Only the rich win here not the middle crowd.

I didn't want that to sound political but it's the mindset more so than the politics of it all. NFL teams proved in 2020 that they don't need loyal fans anymore. They don't need ticket sales anymore at the stadiums. They just need eyes on the tube for gamblers and those like us who refuse to stop watching.

    And that's that....

Maybe… but they’ve spoken a lot about Howard and developing him and how highly they think of him, etc. but have made no comments on Rudolph’s future with the team. I’m not saying it’s set in stone, but I think it’s a 90-95% chance that Mason is traded or cut before the season starts

There’s never a zero percent chance, but it’s a similar idea. Allen’s traits were far superior to Allar’s (both have big arms, but Allen is a great athlete and runner while Allar isn’t). He does have a ton of work to do because he wasn’t even a good college QB, but McCarthy wanted a shot at developing the size/arm combo.

I was just wondering what your take on the draft so far was, then suddenly you appear. Lol.

So, do you think Allar has a shot at developing into our franchise QB?

    Nope not at all

They just aren’t putting all of their eggs in one basket who has never taken a snap in the NFL

They are looking to draft a QB in 2027

Now if one of the two changes their minds great

    otherwise a 3rd and a 6th was a very cheap investment

If I did any rating it was accidental.

I found and removed the rating. That was not done on purpose.

Allar isn't a partier. For that reason alone you want the leader of the offense to stay out of bars and out of trouble. Nothing good happens when you're drinking at a bar when its 1am.

In other words, I trust the responsible leadership skills of Allar and not Howard.
