Broderick Jones is a problem currently. He has so much natural talent (Often looks like Trent Williams) but has underperformed and now has the neck injury.
It did take Willaims about 3 years of screwing around before he hit stride... maybe same with Jones.

The two top OT's will be gone long before 21. But I figure Omar sticks to formula and goes with whatever OT is there at 21.

That would be like a complete guess.

Draft a guy in the 1st round, that you have never met, never spoke with, and never seen in person. Is it me, or would you just be asking for trouble.

I believe they are going to try to get in front of Baltimore to draft an O-Lineman in the 1st. (Fano or Vega)

Mesidor played in a 4/3 defense and he's 25 years old not interested.

Maybe it could be a guy they met with at the Combine.

Trade up with the Rams or Dallas to get ahead of the Ravens at #14.

This seems to indicate to me that we want a guy who would be in the plan as a Day 1 starter. Ioane seems worth a move up. Fano… god no.

15 minutes of meeting someone to commit a first round pick and $millions in guaranteed money? Seems safe….

I just did a search and found that since Khan took over, every draft pick in the first three rounds has been to Pittsburgh for a visit. 10 for 10.

That could mean 5 on the first two days alone if they keep all the picks. I didn't look beyond three rounds.

I'm not saying that's what they will do but Khan didn't dismiss the idea, would you rather have Cooper or McNeil Warren at #21. Cooper didn't visit but McNeil Warren did I would rather have Cooper.

I think so. The question is, will they move up to get him or will he fall to 21?

I think they have to go LG/LT in the first. I hate for them to be predictable, but they must improve. Seamalu left and Jones bad neck. Before the report on Jones neck I was hoping receiver or even peter woods. Now I think it has to be obvious to our staff but also obvious to others that might want Mauigoa, Fanu or Vega. They have to be aggressive They have pics, I hope they use them and move up. If they don't go LG/LT, in the first, I think they will regret it.

i get your second part. But i believe Highsmith played in a 4/3 in college and they still took him. They move people around all the time, take RT’s and make them play LT…anyway i know the buzz is to go OL again.

I have seen conflicting reports on the Steelers’ attendance at Indiana’s pro day. Supposedly director of college scouting Mark Sadowsky was there, and has a private meeting with D’Angelo Ponds, but I haven’t seen that verified. I didn’t find anything on directly meeting with Cooper.

My preference is that our key decision makers do what they need to do to meet the best prospects, and Indiana has a few for sure. There were a lot of late round guys in the facility for Top 30 visits, and only 6 who are widely considered as 1st round prospects. If our top decision makers aren’t going to hit the road and meet these guys at their pro days, they should be focusing on bringing more top talent to the facility IMO. I am criticizing what I’m seeing reported as their approach this year. It seems risky.

As for Cooper specifically, he comes from a strong sports family with parents who starred in college hoops, and a dad who is a long time coach. That would give me some comfort that he should be more level headed than many other prospects, though nothing is assured.

I didn't want it ,but probably someone on the OL. There was a couple of DBs I had my eyes on, and a LB, but with everything that's happening, probably LT. Who, I don't know.

I guess it depends on how much long term planning vs win now their mindset is in going simply BPA or BPA at a position of need. I personally wouldn't go Edge, like many are mocking; however, I can certainly justify taking Edge at 21 or in a trade down scenario, if we're considering a possibility of Highsmith being traded over the summer and Herbig not getting a new deal next spring. Not exactly the path I'd vouch for but I can justify taking Edge, if they do.

JMO but no Wrs, or RBs in the 1st. Too many time the best Wrs, and Rbs aren't even 1st round picks because there are so many of them. Hell just last year only 2 out of the top 6 Wrs were 1st round draft picks.
