If he leaves her a pile of money when he kicks off; no one should say she didn’t earn it.

    Thats good info on MVPs.

However, Rice had 11 rec for 215 yards, a sb record at that time and much better all around game than Holmes.

Kupp, they had to give that award to someone, no one really stood out that game. Stafford had 2 picks and threw the ball 40 times completing only 25 of them, maybe thats why they didnt want to give it to him. Kupp is the closest example to Holmes winning in that it was the game winning drive/catch that cinched it.

Branchs’ 11 receptions was the most since Rice did it, probably had a lot to do with it plus he was impactful the whole game not just the last drive. Holmes only had 68 yards before the last drive. Surprised Brady didnt win it but he wasnt “Brady” yet either then.

Basically SB XLIII MVP was awarded for one play and if you were going to do that I’d argue Harrison should have won it then although the throw, the catch and pick return for a TD were all amazing plays.

Still would have given it to Ben who was masterful on that last drive.

I will say it again. Holmes didn't throw those passes to himself, and if Ben got hurt before that drive, Holmes doesn't get those passes. Another Qb would have been sacked 2-3 times on that drive , or gotten the ball out quickly not to, and Holmes wouldn't have gotten those catches.

So using this logic, it should be impossible for a receiver to win a SB unless you catch a bomb from another receiver like Hines did as you can make that same argument any time a receiver was MVP. Per prior comment Stafford threw 2 picks but you think his backup wins that game?

Santonio Holmes Super Bowl XLIII Stats (MVP)
    • Receptions: 9
    • Receiving Yards: 131
    • Touchdowns: 1 (game-winner with 35 seconds left)
    • Impact: Recorded four receptions for 73 yards on the final game-winning drive.
Ben Roethlisberger Super Bowl XLIII Stats
    • Completions/Attempts: 21/30
    • Passing Yards: 256
    • Touchdowns: 1
    • Interceptions: 1
    • Rushing: 3 attempts for 2 yards
    • Passer Rating: 96.0
Santonio literally has never had a better performance in his career.

It was a very typical Roethlisberger game highlighted by ONE very clutch drive.

You really want to talk pre-last drive performance?

    Bens stats:
    Completions/Attempts: 17 / 24
    Passing yards: ~168 yards
    Touchdowns: 0
    Interceptions: 1

So outside of Santonio Ben had 100 yards total a pick and zero TDs before he went near exclusive Santonio to win the game.

Outside of Santonio Ben was not even "good" that day.

Heck outside of that one drive with Santonio, Bens play in THREE SuperBowls would.not make.you think we were watching a HOFer period.

Goes back to my case that Ben was better MUCH BETTER against Jax despite the loss.

That same performance, in a SB, defense does not allow SEVENTEEN 4th quarter points, TDs to Brown(2) Bryant, Bell, and Juju (likely not needed) in comeback victory Ben not only is ABSOLUTELY would be MVP. Multiple pin point BOMBS.

It would be considered the greatest Steeler SuperBowl performance in history.

QBs get too much blame for losses and too much credit for wins.

When there is a heated debate over who on the Steelers deserved to be Super Bowl MVP then life is good :smiley1:

A debate that is highlighted by the bias of the position no less as opposed to the objective truth. That is what is the kicker.
