I can’t wrap my head around why McCarthy would want Arod back?!

I totally agree, and have been wondering if it's a smoke screen. We shall see.

Because that's who "Run it Back" Rooney II wants. He waits by his window for AAron riding up on his Ayahuasca Horse.

It’s been explained repeatedly but I’ll give it another try

The Steelers are not going into the season with Howard/Rudolph as 1/2 or 2/1

They will and should bring in a vet

AR has already proven he could be a good mentor for Howard and better than any of the other options

And if Howard is a flop which is extremely possible then there is a backup option better than Mason

You are totally missing the point. Why would McCarthy want to aline/align himself with a Qb that in his prime he went 11- 16 with in their last two years together, and then got him fired. It doesn't seem like something many people, not just McCarthy would want to do. Especially now that Rodgers isn't even close to what he was.
Yeah Your right. I always want to get back together with a lesser person than the one that already got me fired. LoL

I understand the idea of a veteran qb
Why would a coach bring back a player
    That got him fired elsewhere?
    Thanks
For explaining that we need a backup

This, and I'm not trying to talk down to @jeh1856@jeh1856 , I consider him a good friend, who knows football. I totally agree we need a veteran, Jeh1856 is correct on this, but I can't for the life of me see why McCarthy would want Rodgers of his own free will. I know if I was in his position, I wouldn't.

So you think McCarthy should do what you would do and not what he is thinking he wants to do

It’s his circus I’ll let him decide how he wants to run the monkeys

I agree. I just don't see anyone trying to put themselves in this position.
Hey mister Qb, when you were in your prime in our last two years together, we went 11-16, and you had a hand in getting me fired, but now that you aren't as good as you were, and I'm trying to make a name for myself as a new HC of the mighty Pittsburgh Steelers, I want to do it again. LoL It just doesn't make sense. Not for me, not for McCarthy, or anyone. I just don't see the logic in it.

Well even if He didn't directly get him fired , the 11- 16 record in their last two seasons together with him at Qb did.
