Was he dragging another player when he did it?

Well who am I to doubt that Rat that looks like the comic version of Mole Man?

As a note I met Kiper at a game. He was incredibly engaging. The man he was ( Drew Rosenhaus) was not so nice. He is the type you need to a shower to wash away the bad vibes. They were seated 1 seat to my left in the row below. The two men were talking about the Miami Hurricanes players and the visiting ULCA Players.

Mel was high on QB Cade McNow who was a first round pick that year. I said he lacks the arm. It did not matter to Mel, he and Drew were talking about his hype.

I do not think Mel is that good of a draft guy, but he is very good at predicting who will go where due to inside information from teams and agents

He got 4 picks right in the first round who/where out of 32

I don’t consider that “very good”

Teams most definitely are not giving him inside information on the draft

Agents do not have inside information on the draft

Mel Kiper is nothing more than clickbait on tv

Mel knows his stuff for the most part, but he's not God. I mean, who did all that much better?

IMHO, as the team sits today, I think the only players to trade up for are Loane, Styles (a bridge too far), Downs(also too far). Loane is realistic, if the Ravens don't take him. I could see the Cowboys taking Loane at 20 but they should take defense. I think we stand pat and get Woods, Loane, or an O tackle they fall in love with. My outside the box pick,,,if Sadiq falls into the teens, go get him. That guy is a game changer if used properly. Metcalf, Pittman, Sadiq and a 3rd round receiver sounds great to me. Just an old guys opinion.

    Nobody

    That’s the point

He knows nothing more than what you or I can get from reliable internet sources

If he plays SS 4.6 isn't that bad, but for FS you would like for him to be a little faster.

I believe they also lost their 3rd TE too, I can't remember his name.

I stated this during week 5 of the CFB Season and was called crazy.

For that matter, Vega's 2024 tape alone could be argued to be of First Round consideration. Now, he can easily be argued anywhere to Top 15 at worst to Top 10 at best. He is just that damn good.

As you said, depends on how the board shakes out.

A lot of weird stuff happens on opening draft night. That said, have to remember only 20 Players are ever granted first round status by the NFL Draft Advisory Board. Doesn't mean these people are seers but more often than not, those who happen to go in the Top 15 are there for a very good reason. Vega is such a player.

Outside of Quenton Nelson, I really don't remember recall giving a Guard such a grade. He isn't the highest ever but for me, I have him rated above the likes of Donovan Jackson, Grey Zabel, Peter Skoronski and even Alijah Vera Tucker. He is second to big Q but as far as disposition and aggression go, Vega has Quenton Nelson beat.

About damn time Quenton Nelson has been surpassed in something. :lolol:

They have needs on the D line, safety, O line (Guard to replace Semaulo) maybe a tackle to sort out the Jones, Fauntenu, Cook puzzle. Maybe another WR, since theres no one behind the volatile DK and Pittman. Unless MM can get RW to produce.

and thats assuming were passing on Qb this year. And were also assuming the Steelers are good at edge.

If we had the #1 overall pick, we could draft a player at literally every position that would be an improvement over what we have there now, except for maybe Boswell.

The only thing MK is good at is marketing himself. His meltdown rant over Sanders dropping in the draft last year was epically embarrassing.

My impression is that MK is hit-and-miss. But I do value the research and insight he gives me.

that interesting that you sat near him at a game!

Mel Kiper was useful when the internet didn’t really do the draft. It was a pain in the behind to get info on draft prospects without spending all your saturdays watching random college football games.

Kiper provided easy to access and understand information.

Now? That’s stuff is everywhere and easier to find than ever. Some good. Some bad. But it largely makes Kiper irrelevant as a conduit for scouting information. So to justify his TV contract he has to try and do something few others are - claim to know individual team thinking.

    It increasingly doesn’t work.

I wouldnt say these guys dont have any inside information but it doesnt mean it translates to draft day because no one knows how the board will shake out. That determines everything. 32 teams and a lot of them are going to be eying the same players.

Exactly. Kiper gave the public information that wasn't available anywhere else. He isn't particularly good at scouting, but he is good at aggregating information from others and presenting it in an accessible manner. Doing that for so long helped establish him as a draft expert. He isn't on ESPN because he predicts the first round well. He is there for name recognition.
