Interesting spin but I'm not buying what he is selling:

Eric DeCosta: Ravens hoped to add Trey Hendrickson and Maxx Crosby - NBC Sports

It was reported that two teams (Colts & Eagles) were in serious discussion for Hendrickson as late as Tuesday morning and then suddenly their agent stopped returning calls. A few hours later it was announced the Ravens had signed Hendrickson. Colts reportedly were closer to $25M/yr.

Here is my personal thoughts on the matter summed up.

Ravens haven't effed themselves. They have been doing that for a while now. It just caught up to them.

This isn't accounting for Lamar's impending extension either... assuming EDC wants to do that anyway. Either Lamar gets extended within the next two seasons or Baltimore elects to trade Lamar in 2027 pending on his 2026 performance. Sounds crazy but given the fact that the Ravens just fired John Harbaugh, I would leave nothing to chance.

Max Crosby is saying that the Raiders GM refused to see him when he was in the Ravens Building.

Sure, sounds like the Ravens had already made the deal with Cinci, and just wanted an excuse to get out of the Crosby deal.

Why would the Raiders GM meet with him in the Ravens building ;)

He did meet with the Ravens GM late in the day

Wonder what their cap would have looked like with both contracts?

Regardless, what they did seems like it's within the letter of the law. I bet the player physical is a little like a house inspection. You can call it off for basically anything (although there at least you lose a deposit).

Maybe there should be something akin to a deposit on trades in the NFL (maybe only if the value is above a certain threshold)? So that there's some disincentive for a team to do something like this.

I guess we'll know more when teams have camps and whether Crosby is able to participate.

I saw a link somewhere that said the ravens had both Trey and Crosby in their building at the same time.
I didn’t recognize the source so who knows, but if true, the ravens would be sneaky on a couple levels with a couple people.
