I like CA3. I think the biggest issue with him was that there weren’t enough other weapons to draw enough of the D’s focus away from him. I would have liked to see how he would have fared with the defense needing to focus on both DK and Pittman. If CA3 is on the field in your base offense, it’s a problem. He’s a guy who needs to come in fresh and fast when you go 3 or 4 wide.

He seldom got open and he was so short all the defender had to do was put his hands up

    Watched it repeatedly

I never thought Austin was very good. His route running wasn't good, and he really wasn't open that often. He had great straight-line speed, but I never felt like I was watching a player with natural receiving ability. With his small size and catch radius, he could never be a featured target unless he had elite short area quickness and separation, which he never really showed.

I'm glad they didn't sign him to a new contract and he went to another team. I like him and wish him well. He just wasn't a good enough receiver, and it is time to find someone with better natural receiving skills.

I still think he could be a great number 3.

Maybe you're right. I just don't see it. I don't see that type of ability in him.

I hope he does well because he seems to be a great young man from everything I've heard about him.

I would still acquire a WR if I was New York. Just not at pick 5 like so many outlets are implying. Missing out on Sonny Styles would be a colossal mistake.

Oh absolute they need 1st rd to be something else other than WR especially at 5
Interestingly enough I saw a ranking list today that had Styles down in the lower teens
Love had jumped to 2nd overall I know they have Scat would they go for Love.

Thats the biggest thing. Can Dart progress. It's hard to be a great Wr if Your Qb sucks.

Now remember, I said a number 3, not a 1, or a 2. I just believe if You have a real one, and two, He could be problematic for any D.

Ca3 has the potential to be a good wr
    Our qb room previous
    OC
    Will not help many wrs
Sauce Gardener said CA3 was the hardest wr he covered in college
    That’s saying something
    But
    He is too short
    Funny
Not like he is designed for jump balls

    In all honesty
    Steelers offense
    Lack of qb
Don’t see many wrs looking good with us
Including the cave dweller at qb

    Plus our offensive schemes
    Lack of a quality qb
And like you said not a real #1 wr on the team

He played games last year as a number 3 and disappeared

If he had any potential as a 3 they would have kept him f

Team was so TE heavy most of the time he wasn't out there to get a feel for the QB. Plus he didn't contribute much as a blocker in space.

Some of yinz are forgetting Austin was a ball dropper last season. Add in a limited catch radius and terrible at getting free at the line and you understand why the Steelers didn't sign up for more.

I agree that CA would be a good WR3 or WR4. He's a mismatch as he gets covered by some CB that's down the depth chart.

But he's not a WR2 (although he did have a couple nice games).

CAIII unloaded some damn good blocks downfield for TDs last year alone
He did exactly what was to be done.

add G Pickens would never bother

We need receivers and he wasn’t even offered vet minimum

    That sums it up
