That team had a very good defense, a strong running game, and two studs at receiver.

 

We all talk about the playoffs upset in Houston in 1989 or 2005 in Indy but the upset in Denver in 1984 is for me the biggest for the steelers in their postseason history

Cowher also had losing seasons with those Qbs , so not even losing a playoff game , he didn't even make one those years.

Same as McCarthy outside of 1 playoff win. He only won playoff games with Rodgers, and then got fired. Tell me again after you make the Playoffs, how does wining a playoff matter if you don't male the SB??
Do they add up, and you can cash them in for a SB?
Do you get to have a hole punched in your, I won a playoff game card, and eventually you get a free SB??
You do know that the Bills have won a playoff game every year for 6 years straight, and yet they haven't gotten a free SB yet. Yet last two SBs we won, we didn't win a playoff game the year before. Guess what the team that won the SB last year hadn't won a playoff game in 5 years. The team that played them in the SB, the Patriots ,haven't won a playoff game in 6 years . Yeah those playoff wins really help.

Notice how the most vocal proponents of the “win a playoff game” concept use lots of feelings words to talk about it?

They’re just mad that they feel sad or whatever. It’s not a logic based discussion.

 

How many pages did you cry because of me talking about pickens? And I see you're still on to your conspiracy, just like watt wanted to be traded last year.

You do know how many drops DK has, right?
What about how many yards DK got?
What about the cost to trade for DK,
What about cost for DK?
.... and that was just year one.

I told y'all, DK was worse than pickens with issues. And that Pickens looked better.

Again... who cares about losing seasons? I don't. Losing seasons for Steelers in the past have been very fruitful at replenishing the roster with Super Bowl caliber players.

Denver gave up a lot for Waddle.

 

And defenses were allowed to defend the pass back then.

I get the safety concerns that changed the rules. But it's made the QB way too important in the modern NFL IMO.

DK has issues, yes. Detroit was majorly stupid. His issues aren't locker room or effort related. That is why Pickens was seen as the "larger issue"

DK's drop percent was 8% this year. Far too high. He was at 5% in 2024. Pickens had a 3% drop rate in Dallas (quite good), but a 13% drop rate his final year in Pittsburgh (very bad).

The cost for the trade was minimal when you see that worse players are being traded for similar comp (DJ Moore), and a player not much better than DK was traded for a 1st, 3rd, and 4th round swap (Jaylen Waddle). DK's contract isn't a major issue, WR's are about to explode again like every other position. Wait until you see the numbers for Nacua, JSN, even Pickens in a year.... If Pickens performs again in 2026 he will be much more expensive than DK, which is a bigger risk given his locker room issues and propensity to give minimal effort at a high rate.

Pickens is a better player than Metcalf, always was. That wasn't the issue. They viewed DK as a safer option because they knew he was a quality player, won't be a locker room issue, and is a high effort player. I still think Pickens should have been retained and potentially traded for more compensation, but oh well. They didn't want to take the risk of him being a bad teammate and consistently putting forth low effort. I can live with that. Over the next few yeas there will be some interesting things to see with both of them. Can DK raise his level of play now that he isn't the only NFL capable WR on the team in an offense that will feature the WR's more effectively? Will Pickens be able to maintain his production and effort level after he's been paid and not in a contract year? Lots to play out in this one, and quite honestly its not worth continuously discussing.

 

Time to find out if Bo Nix is or isn't the guy for Sean Payton. Payton knows that the rookie window is short. Have to maximize those chances as much as possible.

 

It continues to affect the current team. Also, beating topics to death is kind of what message boards do.
