I still think they are hoping for a "Strike" year to bail them out. A year without a cap would allow these owners to remove the Void Years from everyone's contracts and start fresh all over again.

    EDIT: AI
The 2010 NFL season was the league's only "uncapped year" in the modern salary cap era (1994–present), occurring because the Collective Bargaining Agreement expired.

A strike would be the worst case scenario for the eagles or other teams who have a lot of voided years contract in their team since the salary cap would be lower the next year...Remember the steelers were in cap hell from 2011 to 2013 because of that....But I don't think the NFL are going to have another lockout

The voided years contract work when the salary cap raise every years

Average for us vs other teams for the long-term past (min 10 years). Most positive grades for us are regarding dumping players/letting them walk at the right time.

Khan = incomplete. Need more time.

Agree with sentiment here about top management being Rams, Seahawks, Philly, Chiefs.

But, but, I was told he was only a two down player in the NFL. Steelers need a two down player like this on their DL.

I envy the Rams, 49ers, Chiefs, Eagles and Seahawks. Steelers are in the bottom 3rd of the league as far as FO's are concerned.

I know the Chiefs have twice as many SB appearances as any of the teams mentioned, but apparently they aren't as cool.
I mean the Rat are even brought up, I must have forgotten the SBs they have played in:shrug:

I still find it funny that the same people that praise a team because they have some great coaches, and can coach up seemingly any players, and yet those same teams people say that about are constantly trying to avoid having to actually coach up rookies, and are trading away their draft picks for players that are already good. LoL
Just seems to me if I was such a great HC, and I could coach up anyone, and scheme for anyone, I wouldn't have to trade away all my draft picks for players that are already good from other teams just so my team would be good.

49ers do have that tremendous blunder of trading the farm for Lance on their resume. They benefited from a good deal of luck with Purdy saving them.

Don’t pierce peoples realities. It will make them sad.

I’m convinced people need “coaching” to be a massive part of NFL team success because then they don’t have to face the fact that the Steelers are years from winning anything.

Having a good front office and coaches is part of the winning formula.

Need the right people to acquire the talent.
The right coaching staff to get the most out of them.
Players talented enough to win with.

Rams are great top to bottom. Had Goff that played in a SB, were smart enough and brave enough to say we need better and went after Stafford, trading away first rd picks and everyone saying they are crazy, well they just keep trading first rd picks and doing what is necessary to give an outstanding coach the best pieces to win with.

I’lll take the occasional down years to have the overall success the Rams are having.

How many times has the AFCN been the worst division in the league? Even this year when the division was down we were not the worst division.
The NFCE was called the NFCLeast for several years. The NFCW has been a terrible division for most of a decade. Many thought the NFCS didn't deserve a playoff spot this last season. And the NFCN has been very mid for most of my 57 years.
The Patriots ruled a pitiful AFCE for the last 2 and a half decades. The AFCS typically gets 1 good team per season. As 'good' as the AFCW has been lately, they haven't been scary as a division since the 80's.
The AFCN puts at least 2 teams in the playoffs each and every season. This last season is a rare exception.

The NFC east have been good from 2021 to 2024

The last time the NFC west was bad,it was in 2010.Since 2021,3 teams make the super bowl, twice the NFC title game was between 2 NFC west team and a total of 6 times a time from the NFC west make to the NFC title game in 5 years since 2021!....This is a very strong division since a very long time

If you all used the same Standards for other teams as you do the Steelers, you’d be posting repeatedly about how the Rams only have. .500 record in the playoffs since the SB and only a .500 record outside of the SB run overall under McVay.

If you read through the posts here, most are painting a combined reality that a coach can stride into a franchise, wave a magic “scheme” and “culture” wand and start the winning.

But, MojoUW, look what Ben Johnson and Mike Vrabel did!!! If only the Steelers had hired them! Oh the winning that would have followed. So much winning!! I’m so angry!!

Those cats walked into young highly gifted QBs on the verge of leveling up.

If your QB stinks, your team stinks - especially in the playoffs.

Based on the available information, the Steelers QB stinks for 2026. That’s it. That’s all I need to know. It doesn’t matter who the coaching staff is. It doesn’t matter what else does or does not happen. Until the Steelers find a way to elevate their QB talent; they are a wildcard round loser at best and a 5 win team at worst.

and while I’m curious to see what McCarthy can do, just remember that the last times McCarthy did not have prime Rodgers and prime Prescott running his offense at the height of their talents due to injuries, the collective backups posted losing records. And two of those seasons resulted in McCarthy losing his job.

So “coaching” might not be as cool as most want it to be.

I watched GB teams face adversity under McCarthy and they collapsed repeatedly. Now, the one year they played with a spine, they won it all. So the ceiling can be incredible. But the floor is a soft mentally weak football team. That’s the reality based on almost two decades of precedent.

But I bet it will be different this time.

I have always heard, and believed that the this applies to most teams most of the time.
Coaching gets You to the playoffs, and Qbs take You over the hump to get into the SB.
Also as I've said for many, many years most Steelers fans don't actually compare the teams the same. They pick, and choose. The latest M. Crosby addition to the Ravens is pure proof.
A lot of the same people crowning them for doing that are the some of the same for downing the Steelers for Watt. Yet over the last two year Watt has been better, and yet those same people say the Steelers are stupid for signing Watt , and hes done, and yet the Ravens are smart for trading away 2 first round picks, and paying for the basically same thing. LoL
