I don't even like Pizza chains. I like hole in the wall Pizza places, or making my own.
Papa John's is not only bad luck, their sauce is too sweet for me.

I hear ya. I like spicy marinara sauces better than sweet. There's a locally owned, mom & pop, pizza joint near my closest ski resort. Their pizza is freakin' fantastic.

Hell... Red Baron and Digiourno frozen pizzas are just as good as many of the Pizza chains, and much cheaper.

We can said the same for Belichick in New England

Pete Carroll has also been fired by Seattle,I don't think if the seahawks would been 9-8 in 2021 would changed the decision for the seahawks after 2023 since they were no longer a title contender in those years

I tend to think they're basically the same coach.

I do think Cowher lost with teams that were "better" by seeding. But Tomlin had the better QB for longer.

I think they are reasonable reasons to argue for either guy being the 2nd best Steelers coach in history. I don't think Cowher should be in the HOF. And I don't think Tomlin should get in either. But I think my bar for non-players is much, much higher than the actual HOF's is. And honestly, I mostly stopped caring about the HOF when (1) King didn't vote for Troy and (2) Joe Buck somehow got in even though literally no one I know would have Joe Buck in the top 100 (probably top 1,000) people they think about when asked about the NFL.

Agree with you about all the heartbreaking losses here.

And while it wasn't surprising that we lost, for me that Browns game was really hard to take. Not just because we lost to the worst franchise in all of sports. But because of how ugly we looked doing it.

    Mostly make my own.

But agree that non-chains are the best (at least non-national chains).

I grew up in Canada, and if anyone lives around Detroit pop over the river into a city called Windsor. IMO hands down the best town I've ever been in for pizza.

Cowher has never lost in the playoffs against a team with 10 wins or fewer.I agree the one in 1994 was awful but it's very rare for a head coach in a long career to have never experienced a major upset loss in the playoffs at one point.Noll is one of the rare exception for that.

I like to eat in hole in the wall places for anything to eat

I traveled excessively for many years for both work and pleasure and I found one of the best ways to find a place to eat in a strange town was to ask a beat police officer where he likes to take his family

Beat/patrol police don’t make a lot of money so they don’t eat at expensive places and they know everywhere to eat

No we can't. I don't know if You know this but the Steelers never sniffed a SB before Noll. The Pats have been to the SB multiple times before Belichick got there. It's a bit different.
You are correct on saying you don't think the Seahawks would have changed their mind because You don't know, and neither do I.
What I do know, and nobody can say any differently is......
I can't find one single HC that has been fired, that has never had a losing season, and that's not counting 2 SBs. Not one, and Yet many on here say they know he would have been fired somewhere else, and yet nobody can give me an example.

Context based comparisons are not important. Only idiosyncratic expectations and random benchmarks based on how things make you feel are useful criteria for constructing arguments.

Have you not been on the internet before, sir?

What are folks thoughts on how successful Noll would’ve been in the salary cap era?

I’m not trying to take on iota of credit or accomplishment away from Noll. But it’s something I think about.

There’s this parade of dynasties through the SB era until we get unfettered FA and the cap. Player movement changes that and teams cycle through contention windows far quicker.

How would Noll have done if half his roster left after their rookie contracts? Or any coach from prior eras?

I’ve always been told Noll was a great teacher, so maybe he continues to win with an elite core built around a handful of the numerous HOF stalwarts to choose from and he’s able to get first and second year players on the field early? Maybe the scouting department could’ve kept finding guys other teams missed?

I've discussed this with My Brother, and Cousin before, and in all reality we will never know. I would like to believe he would have been great, but I have nothing to back that up.
