Towards the end of the season, he was getting a lot of one-on-one matchup. There seems to be something not right with Watt and teams sensed it. Granted, our defense was pretty vanilla. Hopefully, the new DC will get a bit more creative

    Just for conversation....
You want to trade for one of the disgruntled this offseason. Example, AJ Brown or Maxx Crosby. What are you willing to trade for them?
Keep in mind that the other teams don't want your aging veterans on bad contracts. How do you make this trade work?

How creative can you be if your edge only wants to rush from one spot? Sure, he moved around a bit last season but it was mostly window dressing.

    What he wants is irrelevant

    That’s a coaching decision

And if you missed it the Steelers have new coaching

Both are excellent players. I wouldn't trade anything for them. Both are 28. They are not on the timeline the Steelers are on to be seriously competitive.

Those are just 2 examples. There are always good players that aren't happy with their current teams. You can pick your own and what you would be willing to trade.

To align with the Steelers revised timeline...they would have to be first contract guys. I don't know which dudes are still on rookie deals and upset with their lot in life. But that is what I would be looking for.

AJ Brown would make sense for a team like Buffalo, but I wouldn't want him for the Steelers. As for Crosby maybe the Lions or Eagles teams that run a 4/3 and could use some pass rushing help.

Exactly. This is a deep receiver draft, we have 12 picks, get one 3rd or 4th round. The Steelers don't need to overpay for free agents divas like AJ Brown, bring in Shaheed.

This team needs to continue to focus on building depth and youth in the trenches. I want a rotating platoon on our defensive line that is relentless.

LoL. Pressure rate is a opinion, not a actual stat, that why you can look at the same players from 5 different places , and get a different Pressure rate. It also doesn't take in to account who was going up against who, what, when, and where.
Doesn't anyone understand when the opposing team is chipping your one player more than anyone else on your team, and in the whole league, they are doing this for a reason.
Appears that everyone we face thinks Watt is still great, but our fans know better. LoL

You guys confuse OLBs with DEs.
Tell me when did James Harrison, Jason Gildon, Greg Lloyd, Joey Porter, Woodley, Kevin Green, or any that has played that position rushed from all over. Yes they all do stunts, crowd, out wide, and drop into coverage, but for some unknown reason everyone expects TJ to do completely different than any of our other OLB we've had, and I can't understand why.
Also I laugh at the people that say .....we need a coach to put our players in the the best position to succeed, and then say.....we should make a guy do something He is not made for. LoL.
Hey let's make Cam Heyward play CB. LoL

    LoL.
    That's probably it. LoL
He is also a DE, and not a OLB, and why he doesn't have Watt's ints, but they don't get that.

Not the way ESPN measures it. It is quantitative. They use the player tracking data to measure distance and orientation to the QB. The closer to the QB before the throw, the greater the pressure. There were plenty of times this season where Watt got chipped and he basically gave up on the rush. A few years back he is fighting through doubles and chips. Can't defeat age.

    btw, Herbig wants to start:

Again it's opinion. If I can find pressure rate different for the same players at different sites, it's not a factual stat. It also like I said, it doesn't take into account who , when, or where you are going against each play.
Example: If I'm going against the best RT , and a RB on most plays, and You are going against their backup RT, or someone not as good, by themselves, should you be happy that you had a higher pressure rate than me, or should you sit back, and realize why that is.

looks like TJ was chipped the most but Myles Garrett was double teamed the most. What is a chip anyway? its a quick hit by a smaller RB or TE. Half those chips are almost whiffs. Sometimes the RB barely lays one hand or arm on the rusher. And again, he was chipped alot in 2021 - it was ineffective against him then. Hes just slower 4 years later.

I know your trying to make the argument that TJ can still play at a high level but i dont see it. Hes in the age where edges typically decline and hes got a significant injury history. If he gets 10 sacks in 26 thats good. Even his tackles and tackles for losses this past season were the lowest for his career

Good idea, but WR is the deepest position in this draft..and we have 4 starting edge players now...watt, highsmith, herbig, and sawyer..so no to brown or crosby.

Those were used as examples of Star players that have been talked about as possibly being traded. Only examples. Use whoever in the same scenario. What/who do we have with enough value to make that trade happen?
