Let’s not count Mason. He was under the MT coaching staff which by the way we all know did nothing. I would like to see what McCarthy does with him. I will be a learning curve both for Mason and Howard. Mason has the upper hand y knowing the system and playing time in the NFL.

Can he improve awareness in the pocket and reading defenses? Hes got good touch on his passes. if McCarthy can get MR to play better then he is the Qb whisperer

Mason's time has come and gone.

Don't forget in 2024 he went to Tennessee and went 1-4 as a starter with 9 TDs and 9 Ints.

the titans were a mess. i said this in another post that under this staff he should and could still get refined. none of these guys knows the system under this staff unless rodgers comes back. mason is only 30.

Nothing more than a career back up. He has had plenty of opportunities to prove himself to be a starter in this league and fell short time and time again. Time to see if Will Howard has what it takes to be a starter.

    It’s a new system

    How does Rudolph know it

And Mason is what he has proven to be a nice backup

I think Mason is at least an average backup. Maybe a little better than that.

    But he's not a starter.

And while we all hope for more from Howard, if he becomes Mason that's a pretty good career for him.

Yep. Relief pitchers in MLB are averaging 6 Million a year. Back up QB’s in the NFL will probably be around that figure soon if not already.

You mean the system of Mike Tomlin and Arthur Smith??

Mason has the upper hand on no one. Every QB in camp this summer is on a level competition playing field, unless Rodgers returns. The fact that he played under McCarthy would give him the upper hand. And we'd only be bringing him back to be pretty much the guaranteed starter.

I would probably say that Mason has the advantage of being an experienced NFL QB who has played games against NFL opponents (in both preseason and real NFL football).

And he's been around multiple NFL teams. And even when he was with us, he's worked with multiple OCs so he's been through system changes in the NFL.

We know that he's a competent backup.

    Howard is a mystery box.

And people like mystery boxes. Because they could be anything. It's why people buy lottery tickets (and packs of Pokemon cards).

Malik Willis sucked with Tennessee too now people want to sign him in free agency.

I have a feeling AR is coming back and it’s not necessarily a bad thing considering our current QB situation.
