I've found in my time around executives is that a lot of them are complete dumbasses. Being rich/successful doesn't automatically mean you're not an idiot lol

Maybe Ronald McDonald. The Hamburglar as the DC. Mayor McCheese as the ST's coordinator. Milkshakes instead of ketchup bottles.

Was it just me or did NE OL play shockingly bad?

It didn’t look like Seattle did anything complicated.

The seahawks had also the number 1 defense this year in PPG...And yes the Pats o-line was bad all season long. Both can be true!

You can play a zone defense if your front 4 dominate like that!!

And the offensive line isn't good and the QB is in over his head.

I wasn’t trying to take anything away from Seattle. Just shocked that a SB team with multiple weeks to prepare could look so flummoxed by a 4 man rush plus a DB blitzing from the play side.

Trying to understand if there was something complicating it that I’m too dense to recognize.

That defense had speed! Not the plodders the Steelers have. Jealous.

They confused Maye early in the game with bringing more players to the line of scrimmage and then dropping some, or they would overload one side and bring two extra from the second level. Maye was never able to solve that issue the entire game. Of course he was being assaulted by just the front four for most of the game as well.

This would be called a learning moment for Drake Maye. This was a bad performance in a big spot, and he never figured out where to go with the ball when they kept blitzing him from one side. The read is to throw the ball to the side the blitz is coming from. He was flustered and never adjusted.

When he did throw the ball, he was wildly inaccurate. Just a poor performance all the way around, but he's a young, talented quarterback. He should learn from this and be OK going forward. The team was probably a year ahead of schedule with the way things went for them this season. Next year Maye should take another step forward in his recognition and processing, but the schedule is going to be much harder.

Maye looked bad the whole playoffs. Not unexpected considering the cakewalk schedule they had the entire season. Be interesting to see how things unfold in NE going forward. Remember when Burrow made the SB in his second year? Hasn't gotten close since. A bad OL was his undoing just like Maye's.

One thing we can said, even in the current NFL you still can win with a dominant defense. In the last 3 super bowl champions, yes their offense were very good for the most part(much less for the 2023 chiefs because of their weak receiver core but they had still Mahomes)but the defense were the strongest unit in each of those teams!

This is important for a team to gave your offense some margin of error and it was a major problem for the steelers in the killer b's era!

I started this thread at the end of the 2023 season. By giving Tomlin another two seasons, the Steelers missed out on Macdonald and some other solid coaches.

Sometimes you have to take control of the narrative. Macdonald was almost a no-brainer for the Steelers, for all the reasons I listed in the OP. If there is a guy like Mac out there that you think is the next great coaching talent, then better to let a guy like Tomlin go a year too early than a year to late.

If you look at Seattles roster, it's far from stacked. Macdonald is a lot like Chuck Noll. All business, relentless gameplanner, who gets the best out of his players through consistancy and scheme.

The Steelers missed the boat here.

Seattle called some great blitzes and yes New England OL was bad they gave up 21 sacks during the playoffs.

Ravens fans feel they should've kept MacDonald and got rid of Harbaugh.

They kept telling us that Mike MacDonald is the 3rd youngest HC to win a Super Bowl. 3rd youngest? Why are we keeping THAT stat? And why keep bringing it up?

And Seattle has had only one losing season in the last 13 years. Where's the rebuilding season everyone says you gotta have??

The trade of Russell Wilson was so amazing and they have one of the best GM in the league since he has this job in 2010 with Seattle
