Because NFL jobs are based on personal connections, favors owed, nepotism, and PR issues. Very few if anyone is hiring on capabilities and innovation.

For as much money as the NFL makes it’s really a mostly poorly run set of franchises.

You know, when John Mitchel was there for 29 years, Asst Head Coach said since 2007, if he was the Assistant to the Head Coach, or Assistant Head Coach.

I thought when they hired Steve Scarnecchia they were filling in that job that John Mitchell did

    Not at all.

Sarnechia got hired because he’s just super qualified or his old man worked in the NFL for forever and a half and people owe him.

The entire Kubiak family got their start in the NFL often with no experience because guys owed the old man for their start.

what in Chase Haslett’s background as a graduate assistant demonstrates he’s a great coach? Or did McCarthy hire him in 2020 in Dallas because he’s tight with his old man?

Each year we watch NFL teams fill out coaching staffs with the same old names and faces. Often with guys whose last name is convenient.

We’re supposed to believe that with all the guys coaching football at all levels that it’s just guys with know last names and previous connections that can coach in the NFL? C’mon. That’s just silly.

I think like 75% of the Steelers new staff has previously worked with McCarthy.
