It was a 'beat your man' era in the NFL. Offenses were not complex. Defenses were not complex. And the Steelers of that decade oozed talent at nearly every position.

I am grateful to have watched two great quarterbacks lead my team to championships in my lifetime.

Were they perfect? Of course not. Nobody is perfect. But they were both exactly what the team needed to win.....and they won a lot.

The team has won exactly squat without them behind center over the last 55 years or so. I hope that changes soon, but let's celebrate the great plays and wins and dwell less on the mistakes and losses.

They had seven Super Bowl appearances between them, and the six Super Bowl championships is tied for the most by a franchise in the modern NFL. I think they both did more than a little OK.

UM, didn't the Saints receive compensation for losing Payton? I answer that question, yes they did.

    "
In order to release Payton from his contract with the Saints, the Broncos agreed to trade a 2023 first-round pick and a 2024 second-round pick to the Saints in exchange for Payton and a 2024 third-round pick."

Now I can't wait for the Steelers compensation as Tomlin walked out on the team under contact!

If Tomlin thinks he is making the HOF, there are servel coaches in front of him, and better ones than him in thier 60's still active.

You can have your own opinion on the matter but honestly I think Tomlin quit on us because of his off the field actions.

To be fair Bradshaw didn't finish the game in SB X, Larry Cole clocked him pretty good on that long TD pass to Swann. The story goes Bradshaw didn't even see the end of the play as he left with a concussion.

SB X was the first one I watched Swann was amazing averaging over 40 yards per catch.

Show some actual of proof instead of some BS from random people claiming they know a person who knows a person . Don't hold your breath waiting for a Sean Payton type compensation package while thinking Tomlin will return to coaching.

Unless another team wants to sign him there will be no compensation

He did not walk out on his team he retired

Nothing wrong with doing that and contract is irrelevant

I Loved Bradshaw. My 1st jersey, and I still have it even though it doesn't fit, and you can barely read the numbers. I just like f**king with @Steelvision@Steelvision sometimes.
    I'm guilty of it.
    My bad,and I apologize

I actually hope so. Like Noll, and Cowher, I don't want to root against him.

    In all fairness
    DK
Put himself in an unfavorable position
Stay on the sidelines during the game
Not favoring the fan at all
    But
DK supposed to be a professional

Well, they are quite the pair! :lolol:

No, Terry and Ben were the quarterbacks I was referring to.

I didn't see Terry play in real time. I was alive for the last couple years of his career, but I grew up in Canada and didn't really get into the NFL until Highschool (right around the transition from Noll to Cowher).

But Ben was amazing. I don't think we'll ever see a player who's as exciting as Ben was in his prime. I don't think there will be another QB that plays like he did at his peak...shrugging off DL and hitting WRs deep as the DBs just watch awestruck that it wasn't a sack.

Not a huge fan of either team this weekend. Maybe I'll just watch the DVDs I have from Ben's SB runs.

He walked out with a year on his contract. Sure there is noting wrong with doing that to the Steelers. NOT.

Give it some time jr, the real news will emerge in time. Until then meida friends will cover for him.
