Yeah I read that as well I also read they will activate him and then it should be about 3 weeks before he sees the field.

I read that article as well but didn't take the writer to seriously because he had them playing the Jags in London. Think he needs to check sources more thoroughly?

According to Alan Robinson he's still walking with a limp.

I think it's a real stretch and bad move to keep one of them active and put the other on the PUP list. does spaeth really bring us that much at TE to come back at the same time heath does?

half the season will be over minimum before either will see the field and nobody knows how well they will be able to play at that time. get a new guy in here and learning, put spaeth on IR and heath on the 6 week PUP.

that takes us to 51 players on the roster basicly and takes away another spot from someone. spaeth wasn't good enough to keep a couple of years ago and now we can't live without him? c'mon man.

Yeah I honestly don't have that much stock in Spaeth but at least now we have an oc that actually knows how to use a tight end. So hopefully he can make Spaeth look better than he actually is.

I really think Paulson is going to turn into a beast of a TE. He looks more and more like heath. He obviously has the NFL work ethic coming to camp what 15-20 pounds heavier but kept his speed and agility. I think it's going to be a smooth transition once heath hangs them up for good.

it's like tipping your hand with spaeth though. he's not a receiving TE, he's here to block. it tips the defense off. then Paulson is the receiving TE, and that also tips the defense off. not totally but a pretty good idea of which way we will run or which guy to look for down field. with heath you have both, and defenses know that.

surely there is a TE out there that can do both. why is McCoy being kept around for 3 years if he's not good enough to ever get on the field? why is DJ here at all? isn't there an old vet out there? I didn't think palmer was totally out played for the short time he's been here. overbay is 270. what's he got? can he play G or T? heck hubbard only weighs 16 lbs. more then him. let him hang out with casey for a couple of days and he can overcome that. LOL:facepalm:

When I went to camp, Paulson was way more impressive than Spaeth IMO. Heath had his knee wrapped heavily and was definitely limping. The article said Heath could be back after the bye- so week 6, I believe and, from what I saw, that looks to be pretty accurate.

Yeah I see what you're saying about not really being able to keep them off balance without Heath.

You know what's weird is that during the first game Paulson was out there pretty late in the game and it just makes me wonder if either they don't think he's as valuable as we do or maybe they think Heath is gonna be back quicker than we think.

I think it's to get Paulson as much blocking time as they can. he never was a good blocker even in college. the more reps he gets the more well rounded he'll be come the start of the season for the reasons I mentioned above. we need him more heath like by week one.

I could make a pretty good case that we need ALL the guys a lot more Heath like! LOL.

We also need Paulson to be healthy... Can't afford to lose him too. It's a fine line the coaches have to walk I guess.

haley has been accused of this before. he lost a TE at KC, I believe, late in the preseason. we'll see if the trend continues. palmer and overbay had only been here a couple of days before that game. we will see if it continues. it is camp and they need to see Paulson in the offense to teach him and to do that they need film.

I agree. Everyone seems to make Spaeth out of someone that is a tremendous tightend and I don't see it. Like you mention he wasn't that good before and wasn't that good in Chicago. I'm pretty sure we can fine someone to block after the cuts come throughout the league. If anything we can add an additional linemen on the line to block.

Well on NFL.COM there's a story that says we might be Heath-less for the first month of the season! I want to cry. Thank you for your time.
