I looked...and laughed a little - so it's LAL for me. I'm wondering if MM's being told to pick the next "Head Coach" as one of his Coordinators to take over when he reaches retirement age in a few years?

 

I don't disagree with the overall tone / thought of the post, but Kubiak and McDaniels are two of the best OCs in the league. Unfortunately for Seattle, Kubiak not willing to live his life as an OC like McDaniels.

We'll see how Seattle looks in the coming years.

Id be okay with a defensive head coach, if we can somehow be certain to play against Cj Stroud, Herbert, and Stidham all the time.
If we can somehow turn back the clock like Vrabel and turn 2026 into early nineties when QBs and offenses were sht and you could run the ball. If we had witchcraft like that, then a defensive head coach would be great!

 

The NFCs Seattle HC is also a Defensive minded HC. He beat both of the widely considered best offensive minded HCs Shanahan, and McVay.

 

The problem is not 'offensive' versus 'defensive' geniuses with the Steelers, but the complete lack of intelligence in their schemes, roster utilization, from the owner down to the Head Coach.

The Pittsburgh Steelers under Mike Tomlin were a 'DUMB' football team. It has been a mediocre clown show on offense and car running with no rubber on the tires on defense. This brain trust hired MATT FREAKING CANADA.

This organization needs any kind of genius. I don't think that is Mike McCarthy, who isn't exactly a grinder or high-effort type of coach.

Rams have an inexperienced DC. And you have to give it up to Sam Darnold too, he had a game of his life yesterday. he outperformed Stafford who was and has been all season in the zone, on fire, at the level you rarely see historically speaking, and Darnold outperformed him.
Another thing to keep in mind is Seahawks are the best, #1 talent acquisition organization in the NFL, from roster to coaching. We are not that and we cannot count on being that.

 

I'm only showing what has happened. We could pick apart every team, and who they faced, and what happened to get them there, but bottom line, two Defensive minded HCs will be facing each other, both have defeat the widely considered greatest offense minded HCs to get there, and so for a fact a Defensive minded HC will win the SB

 

Well New England probably would not have won if Bo Nix played and some major gifts by the Broncos. Regarding Seattle. They seem to have a really good OC and their QB played great in that game and all year. In fact it was their offense that won them that game.

I would have no problem with a defensive minded HC if he has a solid OC and a franchise QB. Vrabel was a good coach in Nashville but he couldn’t get over the hump until he had a franchise QB.

‘Tomlins issue is he hadn’t proven he could develop a QB and as of lately he wasn’t to good at finding g Coordinators.

 

Dude, I could say the same for every offense HC that has won a SB.....they had great DCs on their team.
Also why are people making this a Tomlin post. This post has nothing to do with Tomlin. This post is congratulating the rise of the Defense HCs when everyone tried telling me they couldn't win in today's NFL.

 

Steelers haven't had an offense or a defense for years, despite spending the most on defense for 4 years running...

 

Actually, I don't know how that got started. The Broncos spent more from what I can find.

Welp, one 'defensive' HC laid 31 and 41 points on their opponents. The other 'defensive' HC team scored 28, 16, and 10 pts. Pretty much proves you can get to a SB either way.
