Wow, so many ridiculous statements. First off cutting the killer B's and others and suggesting the team would have been the same is ridiculous, and im shocked that anyone who claims to be coach would think so. When I coached and played the philosophy was always you put the best players on the field and believe me the players felt the same. If im wr trying to impress a scout and my idiot coach sat down our star QB and he cant complete as pass, im not going up to the coach after the game and thanking him for his mentorship and honestly a coach who would sacrifice the team like that wont have a job very long. Second i didnt say teams couldnt cut players, I said coaches couldnt just cut players, there are too many contractual issues and CAP issues that would arise, thats why you have a GM and a team of personnel people.

Contracts and the union are not a factor

Yes they are a factor, in fact there are several factors like guaranteed money, signing bonuses, dead cap hits, also the time when you release a player matters for when the money is applied to the teams cap, not to mention the idea of getting nothing for a star player because you cut him.

All off that is irrelevant to your inaccurate comment

All you did was move the goal posts

    Cont
Contracts and labor union, the coach cant cant just go around releasing players. The contract issues I already laid out and the labor union requires documented just cause as well as allows for grievance procedures.

Like jeh1856 stated earlier you are moving the goal posts. I never said to cut all three Killer B's only AB and not Ben or Bell. It's fine that you don't agree with my philosophy about getting rid of troublemakers. I'm of the opinion keeping them lowers the positivity in the locker room. In the short term there could be some loss of talent but talent doesn't win championships but a well oiled machine and a roster with the common goal of putting the team first does. Selfish out of control players don't. Better to cut your losses early in the process before it gets out of control. In this way the troublemakers want no part of playing for the team. You then start attracting players with the proper mindset for winning.

Tomlin had a lifetime superiority over the GM. He was the final decision maker for personnel decisions. James Harrison recently pointed this out.

I can't believe you actually defend AB so much. When AB got his first contract he was being so arrogant that Troy Polamalu wanted to put him through a brick wall in practice. Ryan Clark also complained about AB being out of control.

When the beloved leaders like Polamalu and Ward left and Tomlin did nothing about those troublemakers it kept growing in numbers. That is the reason why you have a a zero tolerance policy in the beginning. It's better for the long term. Belichick knew this and Tom Brady knew this. Hopefully you can figure the rest out.

I believe the Portal is a great tool for college players. However, I believe they should only be able to use it once. Much like Julian Sayin and Caleb Downs. They signed with Alabama and Saban retired. Very justifiable to allow them to enter the Portal.

The QB from Tennessee didn't get paid enough so he jumped. To me that is abusing the Portal.

I didnt move any goal post, and you leave out that players like Bell and AB were at the top of their position under Tomlin. Tomlin had input on personnel but he could not cut guys on a whim, there are too many contractual issues that go along with that and Tomlin did not design the contracts nor did he manage the cap.

NIL and the portal have ruined CFB for me. Let's call it what it is, a minor professional league. Just drop the charade of calling these guys student athletes. That is disrespectful to students. How in the ever living hell can someone enroll at 3 or 4 different schools in 4-5 years and even have classes/credits that transfer, let alone graduate? It has become a damn joke. And these universities are in full blown knee-in-the-chest fundraising mode to try and come up with the money to pay these mercenaries. Ticket prices have gone up 5-10% every year here at UT over the past 6-8 years and last season they even added a 15% "talent fee" on top of the annual ticket increase so they can pay students, er, I mean they pro athletes.

If you keep repeating your thoughts enough times maybe you'll finally convince someone that you didn't move the goal posts. What is even funnier is you just tried moving the goal posts yet again in your first sentence. There is no use in trying to explain something to you because you're not capable of understanding any logic. So I'm done talking to you about this topic in this thread.

Really should read about some of these championship NFL locker rooms. Check out the stuff on the Jimmy Johnson era Cowboys. Absolutely bonkers stuff.

NFL teams will put up with anything if you can produce on the field.

How can I keep repeating myself and be moving the goal posts? Moving the goal posts would imply that im changing my argument which i am not. Mike Tomlin could not just go around cutting people, too many contractual issues and a labor union to deal with, same argument again.
