I'm talking about in general the 2005 playoffs were a small sample size. And Cowher didn't develop Ben either .

 

And it was Whisenhunt who developed Ben the first few years but somehow they want to give Cowher the credit.

 

The same reason some fans care about Ben or Harrison idiotic thoughts .

 

Like I said he was a game manager early on and flourished after Cowher was gone.

 

Who hired Whisenhunt as OC?

Roethlisberger wouldn't have been the same if he'd started his career with a terrible OC like Matt Canada, that's for sure.

 

So disappointing!!...but we will all have to just wait and see who he hires for OC and DC and how this plays out.

 

Because if it goes bad the first 2-3 years will Art have it in him to fire McCarthy.

 

Roethlisberger was always a gunslingers...Just look at his play in 3:35 of this video below.A game manager would never attempted this pass

I agree. Coaching in Dallas is a 3 ring circus and he was more than respectful. I don't think this is a bad hire. The coordinators and o-line coach they hire and what they are willing to pay, I believe will tell us more about the Rooney's commitment to win. Coaching staff pay keeps going up and the Rooney's must pay accordingly. Some of these owners will pay top dollar and the Rooney's are cheap and everyone knows it.

 

There is no shame in being a game manager Tom Brady was early in his career too.

Being able to separate the wheat from the chaff for college QBs is a skill many Coaches can never do.

As far as I know, McCarthy has never drafted a QB that had success in the NFL. He is as good as Mike Tomlin in picking QBs in the draft.

You counting on Will Howard to be that guy?

 

In Steelers' years this is very short-term.

 

I already gave Whisenhunt credit the truth is neither HC did the majority of getting Ben developed, but somehow Cowher gets all the credit .

 

Arians was too stubborn if the owner tells you to change the way Ben plays for longevity you do it.

 

Because it was Cowher who put Whisenhunt as OC...Much better that Matt Canada

 

The steelers offense were much better under Arians in the playoffs

 

So I guess Erhardt, Gailey and Mularkey developed O'Donnell and Stewart. 2 QBs that led Steelers to 4 AFC Championship games... and were competitive in all 4. Steelers only sniffed one AFC Championship from 2011-2025... and that game was over by early 3rd quarter.

 

The Cowboys were one of the most penalized teams in the McCarthy era, so it's a big concern... I remember when the Cowboys had 14 penalties in their playoff loss against the 49ers in 2021 and they were at home!

 

Mcarthy was a complete disaster in the playoffs, his record stinks and he had a far better QB in Dallas then he'll have here.
