We really needed WR help so what if we had kept GP...
What if we had moved up and drafted Emeka , he was my target..
What if Metcalf had not been a bonehead ?

I think AR can still throw the ball so maybe we get some weapons and run it back 1 more time ?

A new Coach a new scheme and AR and some weapons who knows what could happen ? We will need WRS for the future anyway the room is basically empty.. I say we go WR in round #1 and 2...I am not a huge fan of Metcalf ..

Art II said Rodgers came to the Steelers because of Tomlin, I don't see him wanting to return under a whole new coaching staff in what could be a rebuild.

Good Points it would depend on the HC and who the OC is for sure and how much freedom AR would have ? It would also matter if the Team was committed to getting some talent for AR... He made some great throws and guys stopped the routes dropped balls and things of that nature.. AR may still have something to prove ?

When Coach T retired AR told him he was sorry ,sounds like a guy who still feels he can do better ? It would be better for the new staff to have a vet at the QB spot ..I think they should try to bring him back..

Shouldn't the thread title be "What if my aunt had balls?" in honor of Tomlin?

AR is too contact averse at this point in his career. Hell, at this point in his life. The body hurts a lot more and takes longer to heal. I think we all can relate to that. Too many times, he rushed throws, threw in the dirt, and didnt go through his progression. He just isn’t the same QB he was. And at this point, is below average for a starting caliber NFL QB. I'd be happy if they took a flyer on Howard or some other young unproven QB to start building the future on. This reliance on old worn out gunfighters isnt working.

It is certainly time to move on from signing old quarterbacks with diminished skills.

I applaud what Rodgers did this season. He tried valiantly through a hand broken in multiple spots. He gave the team some advantages with his mental prowess and experience and really worked with the players on the roster, but he is simply too immobile and is not worth moving forward with now that there will be a new coaching staff and a fresh direction.

It is time for the team to sign a free agent quarterback, draft a quarterback, or both. The position needs youth, talent, skill, and enthusiasm.

Valid points , but he was more like Barney with 1 bullet...I think he could look much better with some guys who can actually get open and catch . No matter who we have at HC or OC or at QB if we don't upgrade the WR spot a bunch we will look horrid ...

Hopefully Moses' balls were covered by his short pants.

I'm not sure about that, but I do know that Moses' skin stretches more than rubber.

It says in the bible that Moses tied his a$$ to a tree and walked 40 miles.

What if Meyer was good at teaching these guys how to block?

but i agree about GP. We should've kept him.

I was ok with letting GP go but we then replaced him with a far worse player and paid him a ridiculous contract.

    1. Metcalf is absolutely the first player we need to cut bait with, I dont know the contract realities to be perfectly honest but as soon as it financially viable he needs to go.

    2. I don't believe this line is as bad as it has been made to look this year, or any of the previous years going back as fas ar Munchak. The seeds of a lot of fail have been sown here.

    3. The peripheral coaching staff has largely been an absolute disaster for years. Absolute joke hires at OC, the last 4 have been stupendously bad as a group.

    4. Too many misses in the draft, that were easily predictable - Terrell Edmunds?, everyone groaned at that, we all knew it.

    5. Khan has made a complete balls up at WR.

AR is going to want nothing to do with a new coach, new system, and a team caught in limbo between a rebuild and trying to figure out what they are going to do. He is going to go enjoy life with his new wife....... IMO

The 50yr old qb experiment is over
If the new coach brings him back
We are in the same boat we were in with our old coach
Time to move on and start doing things correctly

to me that was one Tomlins biggest failures to get rid of Meyer. He sucked and our o-line has sucked for quite some time. Jesus he picked canada. He flat out blew arse picking coordinators and moving on if they sucked.

Rodgers is awful. He needs to retire. He should coach if he still wants to be around the game. He can’t play any longer.

The line is even worse than the numbers. Rodgers made them look better than they really are by getting rid of the ball so quickly. If I had to guess, he saved at least 15 sacks this season.

I agree, what does it matter if we kept GP, Rodgers was scared to throw downfield. And i don't see anything he did that caused the announcers to gush over him and call him so smart. And I don't need a smart QB anyways, Bradshaw and Ben wasn't rocket scientist but I would take them over a Josh Dobbs genius any day.

There is certainly a what if to everything..

If we kept Pickens, it could've been great. Or he could've completely crashed out the first time that Rodgers cussed him out for taking a route off or giving up on a play (something he is more than just prone to). It could've gone either way. I'm sure the offense would've been better (since we'd actually have 2 WR's), but how long would the locker room hold together?

Had we moved up for Egbuka, we would have a better WR room but a worse DL. We'd be in a better spot at one position and worse in the position we did draft.

Nothing different happens with the Metcalf thing, except that he would've ended the season with more stats. Maybe we beat the Browns, but we lose the Texans game regardless.

Nah, not with Tomlin gone. We should invest in the future... whatever that means. I'd rather bring in a different bridge QB (or roll with the two guys we have on the roster) and build the roster out to be ready to insulate a young QB. Nothing helps a young QB more than a good roster and a good scheme.

We should draft a WR in round 1. I doubt we go directly back in round 2 with all the other positions we need, but who knows. We have three 3rd round picks... would be fine to double dip there. Still think we need to get a DL and S somewhat early in the draft. Possibly an ILB too. Our FA additions will obviously fill holes that exist now, but that is where I'd start. As for Metcalf, our offense didn't do him any favors. Our ADOT was abysmal, and he's always been a guy that would have ADOT's of 12-13 yards or more. If we can find a guy to play with him, and get an offensive scheme that is capable of utilizing Metcalf in a way that better suits his game... I think we will be a lot happier with what we get from him (not that he was terrible by any means, just not a great season either).
