So Switzer beats Tomlin in every catagory....better regular season winning percentage, better playoff winning percentage and better overall winning percentage and won the same amount of Super Bowls as Tomlin....1. But Switzer also has 3 college football National titles to his resume and he wont ever be allowed in the HOF but Tomlin will? Switzer doesnt belong and Tomlin doesnt belong but we all know they will vote for Tomlin to get in.

Belichick drafted and started him while Drew Bledsoe had just gotten an extension in 2001. Belichick gave Brady his first real shot. Brady could barely get a shot at Michigan for four years.

Any iconic coach had the greatest stars on their team.

I agree that all iconic coaches have greatest stars on their team, and qb is the most important. It is a matter of luck to a certain extent is my point. I know Tomlin will be voted in HOF as soon as he is eligible. However, he underperformed after Cowher’s players retired. There should have been more playoff wins and not losses to Jaguars and Tim Tebow. The defense was suspect. However, Tomlin was always able to motivate his team enough so he didn’t have a losing season. Having Cleveland and Cincinnati ( Marvin Lewis) in your division helped as that was automatic 3-4 wins

Might have to stay alive longer then 5 years if he decides to come back to coaching.

I think once he gets a taste of retirement he won't return to the NFL.

Just realized me and Mike both called it quits at 53.

Big difference is he could take a few years off and come back to millions of dollars. As for me minimum wage.

Tomlin is not a Hall of Fame coach...

That will do it. The Steelers lose 30-6 to the Texans. This is the 7th straight playoff loss for the franchise. For Mike Tomlin, that ties an NFL record for most consecutive NFL playoff losses in a row by a HC with Marvin Lewis.

    8-12
Mike Tomlin has the worst winning percentage in the playoffs among NFL head coaches, with a record of 8-12. He has not won a playoff game since the 2016 NFL playoffs, which ties him with Marvin Lewis for the longest postseason losing streak in NFL history.

Really? The coach who is 9th in wins overall in the history of the league and has 8 Afc North titles 2 superbowl appearances and 1 superbowl win, was hired to do other things besides win? Possibly the dumbest post I've seen yet, congratulations.

Mike Tomlin is a sure fire HOF coach, the playoff record thing is kinda bs when you look at alot of teams he got to the playoffs. Sure his playoff record could of been better if he hadnt made the playoffs with those teams but that too me doesnt scream great coaching.

He will make the HOF. I am 95% sure. Likely within 10 years of his eligibility.

But he won his first and only superbowl early with almost all of Bill Cowher players, a HOF DC and good OC who later went to become a heck of a coach. Neither of which he hired and few of the players, aside from Timmons, were opening day starters when the Steeler won their sixth superbowl... I think.

Essentially he was a cheerleader early, with the other fine coaches and players he did not hire or draft doing most of the work. He did very little to earn it. He lasted 19 years, thanks to the Rooneys.

Along the way, he held the record among HOF coaches for not making the playoffs 9 years in a row. In these 9 games he was embarrassed by some blow outs. He is 8-12 ( .400 ) in the playoffs. This is the lowest winning percentage , I think, in the hall of fame among pure coaches. I am not checking every man to confirm this.

His coaching tree is bare. Zero. None of his hires made the Hall. Considering he was the head coach for 19 years this is mystifying. I think he owes much of his success to Ben. Once he was past his prime ( say 35 ) Tomlin was plain average.

How is the no coaching tree thing dumb? You realize guys like McVay and Shanahan have assistants picked up left and right because they are brilliant coaches right? There is a reason nobody ever touched MT assistants.

He will likely make the HOF based on his regular season winning percentage and 1 SB Championship.

He is also one of the most overrated HCs of all time and I couldn’t be happier that he is gone.

Well if Tomlin only coached for 4 years he would beat out Switzer and the HOF judges a career. A 19 year career with a .628 win percentage and no losing seasons is far more impressive than 4 year career with .635 win percentage and 1 losing season.

When you have a record that you are the only head coach in the entire history of the NFL ever achieved you will be in the HOF. It's that simple.

OTOH, it went from inducting the great to the Hall of Very Good years ago.

I agree. He's definitely got some stats racked up. Good and bad. What gets him over the top and fitted is the social climate. Media loves him.

Set emotions and personal bias aside. When it comes time he's in.

I do wonder if he coaches elsewhere will "the standard be the standard"? Maybe he comes up with all new tomlinisms.

Agree with that! The beating of the chest near the end was foolish. Be professional because there will be a game the following week. ... in which you get embarrassed.
