Haha...some would say i may have an anger issue or two... Point is yup we pretty much have nothing to loose but see what you have in him...He could suck..But first round pedigree doesn't mean a damn thing most of the time....Ex. Mitch, Justin, Kenny .....even Mason was a 3rd i believe

His terrible combine affected his draft stock. But he bounced back with a flawless pro day, not one dropped pass except maybe 2 or 3 35 plus bombs. He showed me that he has arm talent. Forget about pads, and pressure from d-line, and in game situations. Strip it down and he fundamentally is a good thrower

I would have to dig thru old posts here and don't feel like it, but I did some stats on draft pick position QBs who were starting QBs in the NFL. There was something like 3 of them who were 3rd round or later and I think 2 were 3rd rounders and 1 was a 6th. The other 29 QBs were mostly 1st rounders with a few seconds in the mix. So while draft position does not 100% pick how good a QB is, it sure does seem to be a 95% identifier.

Will Howard by all reports has a great attitude, and he did get to sit behind AR for a year which has to be good for his development. So I am hopeful that he will at least be a solid backup QB for us, but I do not expect to see him as a starter.

Not a QB, but there was that WR guy......Roman something or other. I am still convinced that he was dating Tomlin's daughter or something. Seemed crazy not to play him when our WR was in such poor shape.

Tomlin is gone. with a new HC, it is not far off from a guarantee for us to be getting a new OC and DC. Based on QB development for the Steelers for the past 8 years, I would think a new HC is going to change whoever has anything to do with that spot as well. We are in uncharted waters here. So you can't say never.......but in no world can I see a new HC happy to go into the season with Mason Rudolph as the starter since he has already been a starter on 2 teams and did not get things going. And it is just not realistic to go into the season planning on having a Rookie who spent most of the season on IR and has never taken a snap in an NFL game being your starter.

We are getting another QB. Probably a retread although I can see us pulling another QB from the draft too. But we have a lot of draft priorities, so this year it might be best to draft for positions other than QB and hire someone a bit over the hill. Painful to think of doing that as we have been doing that for years, but we have more holes to fill than we are going to get in 1 draft, even with 12 picks......IMO

They kept 4 QB’s, they don’t normally do that. Everyone was ahead of Howard, he was an easy cut.

And they had him stick to Rodgers like glue, they were even spending time together away from the facility.

I hope we see what he can do next year if his only real competition is MR. I think we have all seen enough of him at this point.

Most of the negative opinions towards him is based on the round he was taken and thats it.

Does anyone think they faked an injury on him so he wasn’t available to be plucked from the practice squad.

I found that rather interesting? No way he wasn’t good to play early in the season after BS hand injury. No one got to see him play during preseason.

Anyone reading my posts already knows that i'm hoping beyond hope for Will Howard to get his shot..... the kid's a winner... he won a national title with Ohio St and a conference title with Kansas St the yr before..... success at multiple programs is something that can't be ignored..... as far as i'm concerned, Howard was the steal of the draft...... it's long past time that people stop looking at draft position and actually look at actual talent and intangibles

Too soon to make any kind of determination . I like him and he seems to have all of the right qualities particlarily how it pertains to doing the mental work . He would be the type that would spend a great deal of time on the fundamentals. I like the fact that Jon Gruden likes him. That's enough for me. Will he develop. Time will tell. He could end up being a career backup. Afterall he is a 6th round pick so we need to manage our expectations.

Winning a title at Ohio State doesn't really mean Howard can be the guy they had the most talented team.
