On their podcast Deebo and Joe, Harrison and Haden give their opinions on Coach Tomlin. Deebo gets very candid and shares a text exchange between the two of them. It's long, but worth a watch IMO.

Tomlin said he and Harrison were good and they had buried the hatchet but I dont think Deebo has really let it go.

Tomlin has a gold jacket reserved. If you are one to think otherwise reality isn't your strong suit.

I think the post season record is completely fair, considering the .400 record and the 9 or 10 year drought. A little like old Schottenheimer.

I think the coaching tree can be a bit overplayed. Frankly, if our head coach is successful and our team is doing well, then I don’t care what coaches do after they leave the Steelers.

Maybe he can give a speech about tying Marvin Lewis for most consecutive post season losses.

I think Tomlin eventually gets in. Schottenheimer has been a semi-finalist these last couple years and he never won a Super Bowl.

I agree with James Harrison in one regard, Tomlin will get in because of the 19 season crap that frankly means nothing to me. He will be first ballot for sure, but again all that crap means nothing. The greate are measured by post season success. I will always feel he underachieved with the talent that he had. Mike is a great motivator but from what James said they watered down the defense to get draft picks playing quicker and it doomed the defense. If you listen to him explain the lebeau defense and what happened to it, it makes sense why it wasn't working in the later years. His idea of drafting the guy that can do the job you are asking of him for the position you want him to play. I want my coach thinking as he does, who gives a f about who taking credit, just put guys and coaches int he position to succeed and just win. Love that mindset, love it.

I dont think you can say it means nothing. Thats pretty remarkable never to have one season below .500

He even accomplished that in 5 seasons without Ben.

I agree in that I think he underachieved in regards to post season play.

I don't mean for others or for the hall. To me its just a stat that means nothing to me. If we went 7-10 vs 10-7 and end up in the same place no playoff wins then its meaningless to me personally. It is a pyrrhic victory, that streak. I just want Lombardi's or deep playoff runs.

What was different? They had no playoff wins from 2016 to 2021 and kept having above .500 seasons.

Agreed that's all that will matter. If he didn't have that streak he wouldn't be a first ballot coach but he will be but then again nobody really gives a **** about the coaches in the hall of fame. It's the players most people care about.

    Nope

Actually his last 4 years without Ben were better than his last 4 years with Ben

He’s right. Tomlin isn’t a HOF coach. He wasn’t qualified for the job to begin with and every other team would have fired him a decade ago. He was just lucky to land a job where the ownership prioritized other things over being good at your job and winning. Harrison is just stating the obvious.

2017 to 2021 in fact and only in 2017 and 2018 that Roethlisberger was still very good...He was in huge decline and very limited after that.

For the rest I agree with you

Pretty crazy to say a guy that never had a losing season in 19 years wasnt qualified.

I get it if you think the lack of playoff wins should keep him out but there is definitely an argument to be made that he should be in there with 2 SB visits and one ring and no losing seasons.

I dislike the guy but sadly he said nothing but facts.

He’s also extremely bi polar. He’s all in on Steelers one day then does a complete 180 the next.

Organization should’ve distanced themselves from this guy.
