Those teams sucked before they got there. Stop comparing a team that went 10-7 for 3 years straight with....
The Cowboys before Aikman was 3-13
The Colts before Manning was 3-13.
Stop trying to convince people that a 3-13 team is the same as a 10-7 team to make You feel better.
Also we went to the playoffs the year before we went 6-10 to get Ben. None of Your comparisons are even close.

This is exactly what I said .
If they bring in the right people there is no reason to think we would suck. I said I didn't expect playoff wins , or a SB right away, but I do expect us not to suck.

It won't be humorous to me, so let's hope that doesn't happen.

LoL. What the f**k is a 9-8 team plus , or minus a 1 win. Why is it hard to say. 10-7??
I seem to remember many great HCs saying, You are what Your record is.

This might be a tin foil hat theory but I will always believe that Tomlin hired his staff where there would be no threat of being his replacement. His coaching tree pretty much represents a stick.

We can't compare what Noll did to the up coming HC, and staff. Noll took over a team that went 2-11-1, and was just as bad the year before that.

I don't know where people get we are going to start over with all new players. LoL
Not even the worst teams in the league do this, or can do this. It will be about the same turnover as every year, with Maybe one or more than usual.

We have no idea what the roster will look like next season. We don't know what veterans are retiring or being shipped out. We have a ton of free agents including the team MVP who might leave and most of all we don't know who the QB will be. If the same roster that ended the year here was back for next year then yeah some rental QB like Kirk Cousins could scratch out a winning season. But of course that's not the case there is probably 20 players on the roster now who won't be around next year. We just have to wait and see.

A 1-/3 of the roster turnover is the same as every year. The entire NFL has a 1/3 of a roster change.

True but we don't know who stay and leave for the starters on both side of the ball, since it will depends of the new coaching staff and their scheme on both side of the ball....And we don't know who will be our starting QB in week 1,starting LT,the receiving core after DK,the RB with Warren, the safety position, the ILB,CB number 2 after Porter, etc

The team will likely be different more that ever on both side of the ball, not just for the backup or special team players

The big question is which ones are leaving. We know for sure that our QB who did a solid job last season isn't coming back. Obviously we're not going with Rudolph and Howard next season so we have no idea who the QB will be. The problem with that is there just isn't any good QB's available and most of the good QB prospects in college didn't come out. Look there is a reason Tomlin stepped down now, he saw there was going to be a major rebuild this coming year and after 19 years being here he just didn't have the enthusiasm to do it anymore.

Stop with the Qb. We have had a good Qb in 5 year.
They are not getting rid of all our best players.
Every team has about a 1/3 turnover every year.
Hell just look at all the players that were gone from last year, and all the different players we got. If they hire the correct people, we should at least be competitive. I'm not saying make the playoffs, or SB, but justnot suck.
And I'm sick of people trying to convince people with comparing us to teams that have went 3-14, nobody with a ounce of knowledge, I don't care how how they try twisting it is the same as 10-7.
Many, Many, Many awesome HCs have said you are what Your record says.

I will say this in as few words as possible (something some of you know is really hard for me):

If the 2026 Steelers starting QB is Rudolph/Howard/Draft Pick/Scrap Heap FA they will win 6 games or less regardless of who the coach is.

Find a better QB find more wins.

    Stop.
We haven't had a good Qb in 5 years. He stepped down because he got tired of the hate, just like You, and I would have. It had nothing to do with the roster. We are not stripping it down completely. We have more draft picks, and cap room then we have had in a long time. If they hire the right people we should not suck.

That's possible but can the new coach make chicken salad out of chicken s**t like Tomlin did?

LoL. I will say it in fewer words. We went 10-7 three years straight with the same Qb problems.
If scheme, and developing players was our problem like many has said, well then Scheme, and Developing players we already have , and will be getting should help ,.....No???

I freaking hope. If they are the right people.
Cowher didn't come in Making excuses, he just automatically won more games than the year before he was hired. Hell even Tomlin did the same.
Again, I'm not asking to make the playoffs, or go to the SB, but by gosh, I don't see how You hire the right people, and you go from back to back, to back 10 win seasons to all of a sudden sucking.

Maybe but how many 6th rd picks that got injured wouldnt have been cut? They put a 6th rd pick on injured reserve.

They must think he has something to offer.

Please identify the "right people" who are winning more than six games with bottom tier QBs - https://www.footballdb.com/statistics/qb-seasons.html?

Denver with Nix - Sean Payton is not available.
Niners with Jones - Shanahan is not available.

Are we arguing that someone on the list of possible candidates is that good?

The roster on paper was much better in 2007 and even 1992 that the current one....This current team is old and have a very low ceilling,so work need to be done to fix it and it don't take one year to fix that....need to be much younger. The steelers were 1-6 against playoffs team in 2025 and 5 of those games was not even close

Also, I said that in the past, but one of Tomlin's greatest strengths was that he had a very high floor.
But I'm willing to accept a down year or two if it means they have a good plan for the future... They need to clean house regarding the veterans... I don't think veterans like Ramsey and even Heyward will be back in 2026.

I'm hoping Will Howard will be the answer at QB, that would solve a lot of problems.

Both our offense and defense were ranked in the bottom 10 last season but we still finished with a winning record. There isn't too many coaches who can make a gourmet meal out of scraps from the garbage can. For most coaches you need good talent to have a good record. Tomlin excelled in winning with a subpar roster. Now like you I sure hope our next coach can too because he'll probably have to this year.

They chose wisely with Cowher and Tomlin who both won games without top QB play.

Here’s hoping they can continue the trend with the next HC.

Heard this many times before. One only needs to consider what Rooney said in his presser. Rooney had Tomlin's back to the end. If a coordinator was any good he had a far better chance to move to another team for a HC opportunity than to wait for Tomlin to leave.
