It will be disappointing if hes not on the Steeles interviewed list. These obviously took place before Tomlin stepped down so hopefully they have him in next week.

How tone deaf is Rooney. Almost all defense coordinators for a team that live around 26th offense last 6 years . What a joke . Cheapskate owner cant see obvious league focus on offense.

I personally think it does matter. I want an offensive mind, because then you can have continuity and build year to year. If you just rely on an OC to get it done and he is successful he will be hired away as a head coach the next year.

This is especially important in our case with our history of not changing head coaches for decades at a time.

I don't believe in "not ready yet" when it comes to resume. I would rather someone learn a year or so on the job then learn somewhere else and we miss them entirely. If someone has the right stuff, then they're going to be good regardless. Gotta hire on talent and not on resume.

I've hired a number of people in my career and the best person for the job isn't always (and really isn't often) the best person on paper. It's not always the person who checks the most boxes or has the right background or years of experience. Certain people are just going to be successful, and will succeed over time because of who they are. If the Steelers believe that Klay Kubiak or Nate Scheelhaase are that type of person, we should hire them. It appears that the team doesn't mind that they aren't playcallers yet and are interviewing them anyways, which is the right decision.

Mods aren’t pussies like a lot of the whiners on here who degrade their teams players the moment they don’t do what they want them to do.

With 8 jobs still open I think....you can get one of the names on that list. The rest will not take coordinator level jobs as they are almost certainly going to get tapped for one of the head coach openings.

Not specific to the Steelers but this is a fascinating read on how team culture could determine who the Steelers next HC is. Is the candidate willing to work within the structure the org has operated under for decades or do they want to change the fundamentals. Fairly certain the Steelers will not bend to demands by a HC candidate in terms of how the team operates.

For Harbaugh and the Browns it was a 'deal-breaker'.

(btw, anyone else pick up on the budget the Giants are giving Harbaugh? $10M for a coaching staff?? Added to his $20M salary? Can't see Rooney spending close to that kind of money for coaches.)

The dream of a "Harbaugh Homecoming" to northeast Ohio looks to be over for the Cleveland Browns.

While fans envisioned the Toledo native leading the Dawg Pound, the reality is that John Harbaugh was never going to coach the Browns under their current front office structure. As first reported by ESPN Cleveland senior analyst Tony Grossi, Harbaugh’s "prerequisites" for taking any job are significant.

    A $20 million salary, a $10 million staff budget, and--the ultimate dealbreaker--final say over the 53-man roster.

On ESPN's "The Really Big Show", host Aaron Goldhammer highlighted the friction, noting that Harbaugh "wants to select his own GM." This seemingly non-negotiable is proof of the "Berry Barrier" I wrote about previously here on The Sporting News.

Since 2020, GM Andrew Berry has operated a collaborative, analytics-heavy model where the front office and coaching staff share a supposed unified vision. A vision that Berry ended up with control over when it came to quarterbacks.

Harbaugh’s "CEO-style" leadership, which requires hand-picking a personnel executive, is fundamentally incompatible with the Browns' philosophy of keeping Berry as the primary roster decision maker. This led to Goldhammer lamenting, "you can't even get a face-to-face interview with John Harbaugh."

Ultimately, the Browns weren't just choosing a coach; they were choosing a culture. By passing on Harbaugh’s demands, Cleveland has signaled they aren't ready to blow up their front office for a single superstar name.

It appears that the head coach search swings to the young rising star offensive coordinator type that would fall in line with the Browns current partnership set-up.

So you want to hire someone that doesnt know what they’re doing hoping they learn what to do because someone else might get them once they do learn what to do. Makes total sense

I dont really know anything abt most these coaches on the list. but copyed this someone is big on this guy

Scheelhaase represents exactly what this franchise needs right now: modern thinking without losing its backbone. He’s young, adaptable, detail-driven, and actually understands how today’s offenses work instead of pretending it’s still 2008.

He’s coached quarterbacks, built creative schemes, and adjusted to the talent he has instead of forcing players into a system that hasn’t scared anyone in years.

The Steelers were built on innovation before they became obsessed with continuity. Chuck Noll didn’t play it safe. Bill Cowher evolved. Even Tomlin was once the bold, forward-thinking hire.
    Scheelhaase brings that edge back.

Accountability. Energy. Actual in-game adjustments. A coach who can grow with the roster instead of holding it hostage to “the standard” while the rest of the league laps us.
Respect the past. Fix the present. Build the future.

Sometimes the most “Steelers” move you can make is betting on the next great coach before everyone else figures it out.

The article I pulled it from did not say. I just liked it because it had all their names as well as their team and position information.

Think most if not all of those are happening before the end of the weekend. I imagine the guys in the playoffs still are just doing zoom interviews.
