OK tanking is out. they just don't do that. this video with the bus is talking about QB. sure a good QB is needed.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nf...S&cvid=696a147469d84198bc9c46b9fb394ae7&ei=15

is that how they are looking at it and do you agree? i look at the rams and see an old QB which can still play but 2 really good WR's for him to throw to. yes the NFL model has changed since they have changed the rules which have hurt coverage. so you exploit coverage right? isn't that with really good WR's?

part two: the pass rush. is it less important for the pass rush to get to the QB and putting all your eggs in that basket like we have. TJ, Highsmith, herbig, sawyer. < the later two are doing a good job but herbig will be due soon. question is do we spend less there and concentrate more on interior DL and corners and safeties that can cover?

they talk about the league changing, true but just changing the coach without actually changing the team is kind of a moot point. the redistribution of wealth so to speak. where this team puts it's money for players or positions has to change as well.

i'm not so sure that just trying to find a QB is the answer. we have one. if the league is changing does the philosophy of having to have the first round QB change too? can't we spend money on people for the QB we have to throw the ball to?

shouldn't we spend money on offensive linemen that pass block really well instead of run block?

shouldn't we limit our defensive money to OLB and shift to coverage and stopping the run and collapsing the pocket?

    What say you?

You said that we have a QB. Who? Who do we have at QB right now that can lead this team to a SB in the next 2-5 years?

No, I still believe games are won in the trenches, the team that controls the line of scrimmage come out on top.

Look what Houston did to us. Phillys did to Mahomes, Bucs did to Mahomes.

The best corners in the world cant cover forever, need pressure on the QB.

that's what i was talking about. the trenches and less from the edge. guys that can push the pocket back into the QB and stop the run. rely less of just two edge rushers. coverage on the backend is also important. how many times did we see a guy running free behind our defense? kirk did. 3 times against the ravens. it wasn't the first and only times this year on 3rd down we allowed a long pass to convert. i do think we are OK at strong safety if they sign dugger back and elliott and castro are here. free safety is a problem.

While that is true, it is also true that a good pass rush makes the corners look better. We have a good pass rush.

The reason why we lost to Hoston is mainly the offense which had 3 turnovers go thier way and only produced six points. You just can not win that way 97% of the time.

I am glad AR is gone. He was a great player 5 years ago. That was then and this is now. Now he's checking down passer until he must go over the middle and deep when the Steelers are down two scores or late in the game down 3-7 points.

Broom him, Tomlin and his jokers at OC and DC the Steelers have.

Art Rooney II is rebuilding the QB and coaching staff. Don't buy his lip service that he is not!

I’m not seeing us getting a QB in the first round

It would most likely be a reach

Howard will get a chance to compete against the vet they bring in

Rudolph will be #2 to start camp

    I hope Howard does well

nobody is kneeling at anybody. we probably know more about the guys we have then the guys we don't have. of course that will be up to the next regime. heck we know nothing until the next scheme is even put in place. we may end up as a 4-3 defense. we may end up as a run the ball offense. we don't know. all we do know is this offense is very lacking and the defense wasn't too good on 3rd downs and the deep ball.

i'm all about fixing the defense right down the middle.

sonny styles in the first to help the middle of the field.

a good FS behind it all.

interior defensive line that can push the pocket into a qb's face.

then we get pass blocking offensive linemen.

wr's that can get open and back the defense off so we can run when we try.

Howard is a guy that a new Head Coach will get to know.
I think Mason gets shipped out.
It should be open competition for sure... and maybe that extends into the season.

I think they go Free Agent/Trade route.
Mac Jones is a guy I noted.
I do not want that big-headed troll from Arizona.
I don't want Cousins contract nor age.
I might be ok with Willis on certain conditions.
There are probably some other options....

But with a new Head Coach, the screws will be put on our GM because a new HC is going to have a starting QB and most are not going the cheap-skate route.

We do need to return to building through the draft.
It's not a return to the old way, it is a return to doing what is right.
You ALWAYS grab line of scrimmage players in every draft.
But you want to use your higher end picks for 'Impact' players.
And only use Free Agency to compliment the draft or grab that special player that can make a difference.

What actually happens... I don't know.

Yeah if we want to put all of our eggs in Will Howard's basket then it is much more likely we will have the #1 draft pick in 2027 rather than having a winning record.

    The Art plan summarized.
    A. Hire a defensive coordinator for head coach.
    B. Spend more money on defense that cant stop the run or the pass
    C. Draft a small qb who cant run Alabama Simpson.
    D. EEk out 7-9 wins and stay in mushy middle forever.
    E. cheap out on free agents because he is hoarding money because he is one of league lowest net worth owners.
SELL the team. GM still has n ot got a number 2 wr.
