    Just a little misunderstanding
    Don’t think it meant:

    Enjoy your 53
    Ho

Then they really didn’t want him to return

If they wanted him as a starter they could easily have paid him

Not surprising. Austin was just a MT puppet and AS is as vanilla as they come.

At least on my iPad if you hit reply and immediately start typing part of your response starts before the quote and then it jumps to after the quote

It happens to me a lot

That was obvious. There was a lot written about Queens comments and the team meeting they had because of it.

Muth was a head scratcher to all of us. Same with the deep shots. Funny though, I was told coaching doesnt dictate that. Freaking fans :lolol:

Exactly! That combined with not wanting to spend top dollar for that staff. Just my opinion, I don't think MT liked strong personalities on his staff. This was his show and he didn't want anyone shining too bright on his crew.

Because of this I have found it works well to post the partial response then delete it

Click on that tab and the sub menu drops down. Hit delete draft and that gets rid of it.

    https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6973084/2026/01/15/mike-tomlin-inside-story-steelers-resignation/

The Athletic ran a very good story about Tomlin's final meeting with the players when he told them he was stepping down. I will post parts of it here. The overall message is that the players were all clearly behind him. They may not have felt the same way about the coordinators, but they wanted Tomlin to stay.

The Athletic spoke with a half-dozen players, coaches and staff members in the room, who described what they saw, heard and felt during Tomlin’s final moments as the Steelers head coach.

“No,” star outside linebacker T.J. Watt said, sitting next to fellow defensive veterans Cameron Heyward and Alex Highsmith.

“No. No. No. No. No,” he kept repeating over and over, his eyes welling with tears as Tomlin continued his speech.

Watt has discussed his respect and admiration for Tomlin on numerous occasions in the past. That included two years ago, when he said publicly on locker clean out day, “It was huge in my contract talks. I don’t want to play for anyone other than Mike T.”

As Tomlin spoke, Joey Porter Jr. was almost hyperventilating. The son of a Steelers legend, he has known the coach longer than almost anyone in the locker room and grew up with Tomlin’s son, Dino. In some ways, Tomlin is more like an uncle than a coach to Porter.

I want it to be better for you guys, because I care so much about you guys.

When Tomlin finished his speech, every player in the room rose for a standing ovation. They could tell it meant a lot to Tomlin that he had the opportunity to break the news directly to his team. He seemed to be at peace with the decision, multiple players said.

Then, in one of his signature moves, Tomlin tipped his cap and went to the door. One-by-one, every player walked past Tomlin, exchanging hugs.

“It felt like a funeral,” one staff member said. “I teared up. It’s like finding out your dad died.”

When the meeting broke, no one knew what to do. They just sat there, stunned that a coach who had been the organization’s one constant over 19 seasons was gone.

    ...

Inside the team meeting room on Tuesday, Rodgers, through sobs, mustered a two-word message to deliver to his coach: “I’m sorry,” several players heard him say. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”

I am starting to wonder if Tomlin knew all along that this would be his last season, or at least had a good feeling. A friend of mine pointed out that the roster moves for this season make more sense in that context. Tomlin would have wanted Watt for one more ride even if the contract was crippling for the team long term. He would want to keep Heyward happy. He also brought in guys that perhaps he just wanted to coach like Rodgers and Ramsey.

It would also explain dumping Pickens as Tomlin seemed to be feed up with him.

I tried to move on, and AQL kept making a big deal over it and wouldn't admit his mistake .
