Im excited as well. Optimistic to see what happens moving forward.

I think one of the most difficult things to do in all of professional sports is finding a competent much less great QB. No one really knows how to do it. The entire NFL universe (in and out of the league) gets it wrong more often than they get it right.

In the past 5-10 years not finding the QB has sunk some pretty high profile well regarded coaches. That’s the TYPICAL thing that happens across the NFL.

This is why I’m highly pessimistic for the Steelers moving forward. I liked Tomlin. I think he’s a top tier coach. He no longer works for the Steelers. I’m moving on. I don’t know him. It doesn’t impact my life. But…the majority of recent NFL outcomes says the Steelers next era is rough. A failed coach or two and a failed QB or three.

I do not believe in expecting the exceptional outcome. The outlier that proves the rule. I believe in expecting what the percentages say so to speak. And the percentages say that unless the Steelers find an incredible upgrade at the WB position, any new coaching staff will be out in less than 4 years.

That's the glass half empty view, i.e. the Steelers have been lucky. The glass half full view is that the Steelers have a process for evaluating HC talent, have followed that process each time and have been successful at identifying good coaches. If they follow the same process then there is little reason to believe they cannot be successful yet again.

You say you believe in percentages and then go on to predict the Rooneys will do something they never have done and fire a HC after 4 seasons.

You are projecting fan expectations onto the Rooneys and implying Rooney of all people wouldnt understand that the team may struggle until it finds a QB. They dont behave that way if they did they would have canned Tomlin years ago, no coach could go 8 years without winning a playoff game and getting blown out in the last 7 of them.

Whoever is the next HC will receive the same patience as his predecessors.

Again this relies on the Steelers walking a 1 of 1 path.

    I don’t buy it.

I think they can and most likely will hire a good to great coach.

And I think that coach will lose more than he wins until they get a good QB. Something they have no clear path to doing in the next two seasons.

You named 12 players none of them even made the Pro Bowl. This is not a very talented team.

Jalen Ramsey just made a Pro Bowl. What does that say about the Pro Bowl?

There was a case for Frazier to make it over Linderbaum.

This from a guy that wouldn't admit they were the top conference when they were dominant for the last 25 year is exactly what I'd expect them to say. LoL

They already are 3rd best. 1. AFC. 2.NFC. 3. SEC. Am I wrong?

We only had one All Pro on the entire roster and that was 37 year old Cam Hayward. There is absolutely nothing at QB, the team MVP Gainwell will be leaving for greener pastures, the defense is old and overpaid. Other than the history of the Rooney's keeping their coaches for decades, this is not an attractive place for a new coach to walk into.

Way too early to predict. They can't even contact a coach if their team is still in the playoffs. Rooney and Kahn to lead the search, per SD.

Hell no. LoL. College isn't the NFL. I've always thought it was funny, and foolish when people tried saying a College champion could beat a NFL team. Two different things.

I think you will see a ton of turnover here and perhaps FA additions. Cap space should be fine.

I set you up for that one. I think that top to bottom the SEC is still the best, but at the top level the Big 10 has had the best teams for a few years. So far the second and third tier SEC teams are far better that those in other conferences, but will that continue?

Hard to say. NIL has changed a lot.
The whole reason, and people can go back, and look, I thought the SEC was the best conference was because of Depth, now that depth isn't staying, theyare going to the NIL. Hell IMO it's up for grabs in the future of who is the leading conference, and their may never be a leading conference for now on with one after another winning a few years here, and there. We shall see.

Guaranteed job for life with the chance of building something out of nothing is by far the best place for an ambitious coach/person to walk into.

If the team was stacked and had great coaches, like what Cowher gave Tomlin, we'd end up with another Barry Switzer/Mike Tomlin.

So Steelers won't offer Gainwell a contract? I believe he would stay if he gets paid.
