I'd love to see us trade into next year with all the picks we have. My understanding is that usually if you trade a pick this year it's worth something like next year's pick in an earlier round.

Can we flip one of our 3rds for a 2nd next year?

    Maybe a 4th for next year's 3rd.

If we keep our 3rds, can we trade our 2nd this year for someone's 1st next year? Having 2x 1sts (or an extra 2nd or two) would help us if we wanted to move up next season.

We don't need the 12 picks we have this draft.

But if we keep Rodgers, maybe the team will prefer to spend those assets now to field a better team next season. We're always trying to win the next game (without selling out the future), so this is probably what we'll do. But I'd like to see us prioritize the medium term.

Maybe it all depends on what happens with AR?

I wish that this stuff was explained to kids better.

Every year, there are far more than 32 guys with "1st round grades".

If I had a kid in this situation, I'd have them follow up with the question "how many players do you have 1st round grades on this year"? I'd probably have to work on the phrasing here so that it didn't come across as an ******* thing to say (if it was an NFL GM).

    Winner.
Exactly. I bring this up every year. It's impossible for all the players they give a 1st round draft status to actually be drafted in the 1st round.

Yeah, it is phrased as potential. Per the NFL, for 2014-2024 they gave between 12-25 players/year first or second round potential evaluations. They had a 87.9% accuracy (188 out of 214 drafted in first 2 rounds). Conversely in 2024, 22 guys declared after being advised to stay in school ( not expected to be drafted in rd 1 or 2). 0 went rd 1, 7 went rd 2, 3 went round 3, 7 went rd 4, 3 went rd 5, 1 went round 6, and one went undrafted (draft average 3.6)

Ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, 17 student-athletes were given first- or second-round evaluation. 13 of the 14 who declared for the Draft were drafted in the first two rounds.

In previous years, the Committee would evaluate players in one of five categories: potential first-round pick, potential second-round pick, potential third-round pick, no potential for the first three rounds or no draft potential at all.

The new ratings are much simpler: potential first round, potential second round, or neither, which is effectively a recommendation to stay in school.

We don't know yet until all of the QBs declare, ask me at the end of this month when the deadline passes.

Trinidad Chambliss had his request to return for his 6th year in college denied by the NCAA today. So he has no choice now but to declare for the draft. Kiper has him the 4th rated QB.

If Chambliss was four inches taller, he would be in the discussion to be the first pick of the draft.

Why did he do that? Because he doesnt like the teams he may be drafted to?

I’m a German engineer and I answer questions accurately and precisely the way they are asked

    I did this twice

My answers are accurate and precise

Maybe you should ask the question you actually seem to want to ask

I think he was worried about where he would be drafted if he declared for the NFL. He doesn't have great size, and he only had this one year of playing at the Division I level, and many NFL teams are worried about the smaller sample size. He played at a Division II school before that.

He would make a lot of money at Ole Miss.

Here's a link to an explanation of asking for another year of eligibility. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/trinidad-chambliss-ncaa-waiver-ole-miss-quarterback/

It was kind of a joke, but maybe not for 2026 depending on how low he gets drafted.

I know guys are making a lot of money now. You never know.

I see people telling Moore to stay in school to avoid the Jets because hes making a ton of money at college.

I hope we skip QB in round 1 altogether, but that's just me. I wouldn't be pissed if we took him, we would just have to be pretty sure he was going to work out. He has the stuff I think, he just needs consistency (through more play).

I have two of relevance: Pavia and Chambliss. There are probably others but I don't care to look closely because they are irrelevant since I would not draft any of them.
Mason is better than Will Howard.

If Simpon is available for our pick, AND he works out well ( showing a good arm velocity is important ) , a good hand size over 9 1/3 "inches and interviews well, I say we gamble on his lack of film, banking on he will improve with more starts, which he did not get enough of in college.

I'm floating in this boat right now. This team has more than a QB hole to fill before it can be considered a top roster. Need another stud DL, IOL at minimum. And their safety position is actually frightening beyond Ramsey. Could also use a CB to pair with JPJ. Add in that every QB but one seems to be some kind of project or other.

And I'm probably in the minority in wanting to move on from Rodgers, especially if they lose in Rd1 again. Make a bid for Willis, keep Rudolph and Howard and that's your QB competition for camp next year. None of the QBs in reach of the Steelers will be capable of beating one of these guys out.
