Supposedly seven teams were on the phone to Harbaugh's agent within an hour of his firing.

But there are only 6 HC openings excluding the Ravens......hmmmm......oh, the intrigue!

...and yet it's become JUST that for Tomlin-lead Steelers. Ironic isn't it?

One of Tomlin's most pronounced flaws has been to not equip himself with stronger coordinators. His rapport with his players is next level. He needs to pull back and delegate more responsibility to better coordinators.

He's got a reputation as one of the hardest working coaches, but if that's a product of micromanagement I don't think know that it's such a good thing.

Unfortunately, the clown responsible for the bad OC/DC hires is...Mike Tomlin. Whether he gets out of the way or not, he still hires poorly. Our DC was bad as a DC already, hired. The last 3 OCs have been bad or awful. Our last good OC was Haley and last good DC was Lebeau. That is a long time and many coordinators that have been mediocre or awful.

I hope no one is implying Tomlin isn't responsible for the OC/DC/coaching hires?

I dont think Smith has been bad but Im more encouraged that he is at least a real OC. Regardless how people feel about him, hes had success in this league and not some underling on the Staff that gets a promotion.

Hell,a lot has changed since then. Who had KC missing the playoffs. New information requires recalibrating. We have a season of new information to go on now.

    1. He had at least a piece of a hand in that roster, and developing them.
    2. I don't believe in Lamar Jackson like many do, and I'm convinced without Harbaugh, and his ability, and even want to change his whole coaching philosophy for Lamar Jackson, Lamar doesn't get those MVPs.
    3. Do You think that they are just changing Harbaugh??
    4. Think about this, the next HC will not be expected to win games, He will be expected to go to SBs right away.
I can see all of this going sideways easily, and I Love it.
It's funny with the Ravens, and the Steelers, the biggest shouts of fan for firing them are the fans that can't remember ever sucking, but they might really soon.
I keep using the Giants as a example because they are a team with 4 SB wins, and used to winning. Needed something different, and They are still looking for the guy that was going to do that over Tom Coughlin. Never in their wildest imagination did they think it would take this long.

I wonder if Tomlin would've gotten fired if he lost the Ravens game?

    Probably not.

Exactly. That's is exactly why at that time I said, wait some games before jumping on it. What a team did last year has nothing to do with the following year. This is my whole thing about crowing, or downing something too quickly.
    Wait, and see.
Example : I have a screen shot of the 5 Qbs many were saying for sure would be number 1 draft picks this year. LoL. I won't show , or embarrass anyone with them, but like I said then, let's play some games first. That all.

Nothing wrong with Smith, and He's smart enough to know to use his Qbs knowledge of the game also. Many OCs wouldn't, they would think, I got this , and shut up Rodgers.

What does this mean? Is this like changing underwear?

Is Harbaugh largely responsible for the franchise paying up to keep Lamar? Did he tell management that he could win championships with Lamar and plant a flag firmly in support of the contract extension? I don’t know, but it certainly seemed to me at the time like he wanted to keep Lamar even at a top QB payday and cap hit.

I'm not sure I'm getting what You are saying.
As far as the they aren't just changing Harbaugh , they will be changing the OC, DC, and everyone else coaching. Then on top of that the GM, and the scouts will then have to get used to all the new people , how they work, what they want, what they need. I can easily see this going sideways.
On top of that in 2022
I will remind everyone that the Media, and Ravens fans said that it was Greg Roman, and always wanting to run the ball that held them back, and they needed a OC to open up the passing game , and rely more on Lamar Jackson. LoL .
Now as if by some kind of magic trick that has erased all of those same peoples minds, they now complain about Lamar Jackson passing it too much, and them not running it enough.
By the way Greg Roman is doing pretty well with the Chargers. But the Media, and the Ravens fans just knew for a fact.

Well things change throughout the year. The Jags are the hottest most complete team going into the playoffs. Getting Jakobi Meyers at the trade deadline really put them over the top. I was never a Packers guy so that wasn't me. Poor coaching and injuries ruined the Ravens season, and now it comes out that their players are having celebration parties for Harbaugh getting fired. The Bills also have bad coaching and have one great player surrounded by a bunch of mediocre ones. Allen could by himself pull off a win at Jacksonville but I think the Jags are just too good.

1st. I was just playing with you because I got onto you at the beginning of the year for saying Bills , or Ravens, and I asked what they had done to actually make You believe they could make a SB.
    So I was just joking.
    Anyways.
You don't think the HC for the Ravens, and the Bills had anything to do with Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson being good. They just magically became good??

Will we now see Flores in Baltimore?

I can see Harbough as a Raider unless he wants to continue to harass us as the Stains leader. That fits him too.

Any team that lets Flores become the head coach will regret it. He is a very good Defensive Coordinator but will never be a good head coach.

    Allegedly.

The Pittsburgh talking heads like to claim this, the fans tend to buy into it...however there has never been any actual proof of this, just speculation and assumptions.

The most likely cause of The Steelers not having strong coordinators has to do with the rumored lower pay of coaches in Pittsburgh by the Rooney's. This is kind of backed up by the fact that the Steelers have the least amount of assistant coaches in the NFL...and this dates back to the 70's.

What Coordiantor wants to come to less pay, but more work due to less help?

This issue predates Tomlin by decades.

My only question on Smith is how much is it actually Rodgers? Let expound a little, the use of Patterson last season, the continued use of Jonnu this year, the reluctance to run MOF routes, the non-use of players like Muth and Wilson, running a tush push from 2 yards. There's some head scratching stuff there for the OC.

I would think he wants out of AFCN. For fun I'll say the ATL. just to get the hell away from the AFC.

The ATL job is plum. Hell, he doesn't even have to hit 0.500 to win the division there.
