The issue is that while he may have a lot of input and say in the building, and maybe more so in player personal decisions, he won't be the guy that fully gets all the credit. We had this great 2023 draft but all you heard was Kahn had a great first draft. If we can keep everyone's ego in check, then this could be a great symbiotic relationship. But as you know, men have egos and like to be given full credit for their work and to call something they built as theirs, unlike this situation in Pittsburgh where he is sharing the praise or lack there of because Kahn has the defacto GM label.

Moving to a farm at a early age straight from Chicago....I had to learn to drive a truck, and of course it was standard. A 72 Ford. I was driving it around the farm at the age of 11.

I disagree. I doubt most Steeler fans could name anyone in the front office. The same with any fan base. Those guys are pretty anonymous, especially during the season when everyone's passing attention.

Obviously his peers would take note of his accomplishments, but he's in the wrong line of work if he's looking for glory.

While it is true that Howie had final say, Andy Weidl from 2020 to 2022 was the one running the show in terms of both draft preparation and draft board setup. That said, given how the 2020 Class turned out, I cannot help but wonder if that is something that teams are holding against him. Then again, if 2020 is so bad, what about 2021 and 2022?! :hmm:

How long before someone prys him away with a GM job. Could happen this offseason.

Khan just signed a 3 year extension in July.

This is all well and good, but we still need a real o-line coach to develop this unit

Pat Meyer has done an outstanding job with the young guys

His contract will and should be extended

To my eyes, any success the o-line has had is due to their own personal talent...... Meyer's actual blocking scheme is a major weakness.....
Most times that the o-line has been beaten is because they were out schemed rather than being beaten physically..... most good d-coordinators have figured his schemed out and routinely take advantage of it......
If we extend Meyer's, then we're personally screwed

The OL was much more efficient and effective this season over last season. That improvement is talent level plus Smith's scheme plus elite QB calling protections plus the unit simply coming together over time. I don't have a problem with the OL coach like many do here. I actually trust the process of allowing a young OL time to learn the NFL.

Weidl is definitely a strong asset. Omar is not.
The major test for me is how to solve the QB position this off season.
    - I really can't see Howard stepping into the starter role, despite the fact that I think highly of him. I figure him to replace Mason at best and become a better backup option.
    - Will they make a move for Mac Jones? (still under contract and requires a trade)
    - Will they go a castoff like maybe Kyler Murray? Daniel Jones? or other?
    - Will they roll the dice on a late round QB? (I hate that)
    - Does Rogers come back for another year - I don't see that.
    - Do they kick the can yet again down the road?

and of course how do they solve a now terrible scenario at WR?
And still build Oline and get younger on defense?

I think my confidence in Wiedl is there, I think if given leeway he can put a good dent into the questions.
Maybe he could trade Omar for a 7th rounder.

His contract is up, they should look to upgrade. At the very least, inquire if Munch is interested.

I want to know what he is doing that his guys never seem ready at the start of the season. I also wonder how much blame he deserves for Broderick Jones still having so much trouble with technique.

On the other hand, the line has gotten better this season. It held up even when injuries hit. Does he get credit for someone like Cook stepping in and doing a solid job?
