Shanahan has been in the super bowl twice and was at a few play away to win the super bowl both time...Just come short of the ultime goal....He was also unlucky in Philly in 2022 when both QB was out for the entire second half...Jimmy G had his moment under Shanahan, just to look at his stats and make the super bowl with him in 2019,close in 2021.Purdy is better but Shanahan deserve major credit for that too

Mac Jones has been very good this year with the 49ers too....Yes Lance was a big failure but the rest of his QB played great under Shanahan

See the excuses people male for other teams that they don't afford their own team. .
By the way speaking of KC.
How come Andy Reid isn't coaching up the Qb he has now. Since Mahomes has been hurt they have scored 13 point, 9 points, and so on. 13 points is the most he can genius without Mahomes??

Again stop moving the goal post. It was said He could coach up a rookie, and I asked what rookie he has coached up. Until you find me a rookie he has done this with as a HC, then it is all speculation.

They were very competitive against the 13-3 broncos despite a depleted roster and not just the QB position...Reid is a another head coach who had success with so many QB in his career, not just Mahomes

That is a lot of caveats that no one affords Steelers.

I mean Steelers lost to Patriots and very good Ravens teams but that was a coaching failure. In contrast, losing to Mahomes is just bad luck?

This is the kind statement that Kirk would make a robots brain explode with as the logic errors melted the circuits.

Who care if he was a rookie or not....Goff was atrocious in 2016, an all-time bad rookie season, and McVay revived his career and deserves huge credit for that. Only head coaches like Kyle Shanahan, Andy Reid, and McVay would have been able to do that back in 2017.

I said a few play away, who was the case for the 49ers against the chiefs in 2019 and 2023...For the bad luck,I was talking against the eagles in 2022 when both QB was hurt for the last 30 minutes of that game, including Purdy for 55 minutes. No head coach in NFL history would won this game in that situation

What people fail to realize is that the NFL Draft is the ultimate crapshoot. One third of all first round picks are stars, one third will be solid starters and the final third will be busts. Nothing to it more than that.

If anything, the entirety of the 2021 NFL Draft Class of QBs all either didn't work out or took time in the form of Trevor Lawrence (in his case due to Organizational Malpractice). That said, what isn't discussed among the 2021 NFL Draft Class is how each QB failed. Zach Wilson wasn't panning out without sitting out (same with Justin Fields), Mac Jones got screwed over by Belichick and I have already discussed both Lance and Lawrence.

In short?! Even if the ideal situation for a QB, or any prospect, turns out to be as good as one would hope, those traits alone still don't mean the player has a chance to bottom out. Lance was a prospect in a long line of prospects before him to not pan out well.

    Simple as that.

Gee. Not like the Steelers have ever had bad injury luck in the playoffs. Just bad coaching.

Even if the Bucs win next weekend, they will win their division with a losing record .

    All true.

Doesn't change the fact that Shanny missed big time on Lance. If not for Purdy, he would likely be out of job.

I agree for 2014 and 2015 but I don't think they would win in 2016 even if Bell was healthy vs Pats. The defense gave up points on every drive outside of one drive in the first quarter and Bell don't play defense

Wasn't that the year they started just an awful secondary? Like Cockerell and Burns and a terrible safety that someone victimized on a flea flicker or something?

Dude stop being stupid. If someone says a person can coach up a rookie Qb. That means a rookie Qb. Do I have to explain English now to you. The closest to a rookie he has coached up was Goff, and He traded him for a Qb that had over 40,000 yards, and almost 300 tds before he ever coached him. I mean if You can just coach a guy up, why trade for a different one??

Possible, this is why I don't think they would beat the pats if Bell would been healthy.

So how does this answer my question??? I'm sure they will, as long as the real reason they are great....Mahomes is healthy.

I don't care if he was a rookie or not,McVay had done a amazing job with Goff...Don't need to be a rookie to be impress

Chiefs will get an awesome draft pick. Probably the best college TE available to replace Kelce. This player will likely be great for the next 15 years.

And if Mahomes isn't healthy, it won't matter.

Mahomes will be healthy. I'd bet money he will be fully rehabbed and ready to play by August 1, 2026.

Not the same thing....I just don't agree that being a rookie QB matter to know that McVay was impressive in reviving Goff's career. This is irrelevant and you said rookie in the goal to not make McVay look great...This is why

If you think Goff would have been successful with an outdated Jeff Fisher, you're way off
