Malik Willis

I only saw him the other night against the Ravens but to me he looked good.

He is a FA after the season and I wouldn’t mind the Steelers kicking the tires on him.

He seemed fast with an accurate arm.

If we were able to sign him, it would leave the other draft picks to bolster the roster.

Thoughts????

I wanted the Steelers to draft Willis over Pickett in Round 1. I am on board with this. I do not think Willis will be a high end top guy, but you can win some ballgames with him.

 

Unless Steelers hire a new head coach... hell no for Willis. People need to realize LaFleur, Shanahan, McVey, Johnson, etc... are coaches that can develop and maintain QBs. Why did Willis suck for Titans, worse than Levis.... and he's suddenly good for Packers? Duh.

 

I think Shanahan is a excellent HC, but why didn't he develop the Qb that they spent 3 draft picks on???
Why did McVay trade away his Qb, for a older Qb that has already played for over 10 years??
The rest are speculation, and will require more time to see if that is actually true.

 

Didn't Fisher draft Goff? IIRC, McVey didn't draft Goff. He saw something in Stafford the rest of the NFL didn't see. It paid off... McVey won a Super Bowl with Fisher's players (Aaron Donald, etc).

The rest of the NFL largely viewed Stafford as a HOF caliber QB yoked to a bad franchise. The league was salivating that he was available.

Maybe I just hallucinated that. Could be a me thing.

 

Shanahan made up for it by developing an irrelevant 7th round QB draft pick who goes by the name of Brock Purdy.

 

His qb rating is 145 for 4 games played. Not a big deal

 

Apparently Shannahan is both a genius and an idiot? Look it is one or the other - can't be both. Or are we arguing for an uncertainty principle in NFL coaching?

Shanny gave up the store for Trey Lance. Said this is my guy. This is what I need to win. He is incredibly fortunate that the team also took Purdy as a late round dart throw. Without that draft pick (who may have been more Lynch than not) Shanny would likely be looking for work.

 

So why didn't he just coach up Goff. You know coach him harder with genius calls. Tell me what he seen in Stafford nobody else seen?? LoL.
He had over 40,000 yards , and almost 300 td before he ever went , and got him. I believe McVay is a good HCs, but when You show me a rookie Qb that McVay has turned into a great Qb, I will believe this. Until then, your believe that he can is based on what???

 

No more 2nd rate losers, please. This team has had enough. One of which is our incompetent HC.

 

Baker Mayfield. Was considered a bust until he played a few games for Rams. I realize he's had a rough 2nd half of this season, but Bucs sure as sh!t look better than Steelers right now.

 

And this is exactly what I mean when people will make excuses for every single coach, but their own, and because I point out the Hypocrisy somehow I love Tomlin.
I honestly don't care if they fire him tomorrow, but I believe in judging everyone equally.
Can You imagine if we spent three 1st round draft picks on a Qb that we had to let go because we couldn't coach him up.

 

By what measure? Bucs are in almost total free fall.

He still doesn't look that great to me. He's average. This is what I mean by crowning people too quickly. One great year doesn't make a great Qb.
Let's not forget the Wrs he has in Tampa Bay. Wrs that have looked good no matter who the Qbs is.
Matter of fact Mike Evans has had over 1000 yards every season for 11 years straight, with over 5 different Qb, until this year with Baker.

 

To be fair,they are 1-7 in their last 8 games....The NFC south is even worse that the afc north

 

This is mostly fun for me. The pretzels that people are willing to twist themselves into once an argument becomes dogmatic are entertaining.

I actually think that Shanny the Younger is a really good play caller and designer. Any team would be lucky to have him in any coaching capacity. But he gets talked about like he does it all on his own.

His Niners teams have been absolutely LOADED from top to bottom. Often having the best overall roster in the league. He still has not managed to win the big game. Not a knock necessarily but that seems to be the standard here.

He also has failed to develop two hand picked QBs in Jimmy G and Lance. But we should give him a bust in Canton for Purdy? I dunno....

 

Goff was not a rookie in 2017 but he had just a impressive season in 2017 after a brutal rookie season in 2016....His rookie season was as bad that Bryce Young in 2023

 

So are the Steelers.

Going up against LOADED Kansas City Chiefs teams in Super Bowls with one of the greatest QBs to ever play the game in Patrick Mahomes will put a damper on achieving Lombardi trophies. 49ers were competitive in both games.

49ers didn't get blown out like '85 Patriots, '94 Chargers or '88 Broncos.

 

I too think he is a excellent HC, but the excuses that people give certain HCs is funny. People forget how him, and his father were run out of Washington by know it all fans, and media because apparently they couldn't coach. LoL
