I am going to wait until seasons end for sure. I think I’m 90% sure I know the ending.

After the mini 3 game winning streak I was believing in this team. Much like Lucy pulling the football, Tomlin is Tomlin.

I think the DK suspension hurt more than we’d like to admit. So did the loss of Echols.

As Felldizz will tell us, throw everything out the window on divisional games. We saw that today. The teams know each other well.

Anything can happen next Sunday night.

Wasnt it a while back Hairball portioned the league asking not to play night games in Pittsburgh???

Steelers finally got a receiver but they paid #1 money to a #2 receiver who is just a level below the better receiver they had in the brain cell department.

The culture in the Steelers locker room is one of ill prepared and zero discipline. Aaron Rodgers likes Mike Tomlin but I doubt he really respects his skill.

Your fandom is leading to you making excuses. Why do we have to throw everything out the window? Prior to today, in 12 of 15 games, other teams were capable of getting it done. We couldn’t get it done because our team isn’t good and our coaching staff sucks. Simple as that.

Can it? Sure. Is it likely? Hell no ..

Not having a #2 WR has come back to haunt us…a total indictment on Tomlin and Khan.

Tomlin should pack his bags before the game so he can catch the next flight once the game is over.

Exactly. Add new ownership as well as that is where the root causes all originate from. See Eagles for how long they put up with just having .500 seasons. Some organizations would have replaced their coaches who gave them two non-winning seasons back-to-back. Not the Steelers who lowered the bar to records vs rings. Ben carried this clown until he didn't and what you see is what you get now.

How many more times do you need to see this either late in the season or with an embarrassing disaster in the wild card round? Every year I’m open to having my mind changed by results. Every year this happens. Hopes are raised and then shattered. The Tomlin supporters then rush to find specific details to absolve him of culpability. They’ll come up with a litany of excuses and ignore the reality that every team faces challenges, and the best led teams overcome them when it matters the most. They’ll preach caution to accept mediocrity of leadership because it could be worse. I look at this at a macro level. A season can be derailed here and there by circumstances that the team’s leadership couldn’t overcome. But a decade? Every year there’s a burst of positive outcomes that give us hope. Every year that hope is crushed by utterly subpar efforts when it matters the most. Every year it’s a different twist, but the same outcome.

Even in the year with the most obvious and justifiable reason - 2019 when Ben went down - we still had hopes dashed on the rocks. We get to 8-5 with backup QBs, but crash and burn with terrible situational football when trying to make the playoffs, which would have been a great achievement.

For me the opportunity remains to be swayed, but only by results. Not by yet another lost season of “gee if it weren’t for that one darned this we could have been a contender.”

This year it hits even harder because the AFC is so wide open. The Chiefs are out, and we could have eliminated the Ravens yesterday without them even having a shot.

Deuce cared about playing a game in Ireland. He cares about having the draft in Pittsburgh. He doesn't give a rat's ass about the product on the field. There hasn't been accountability in the organization for years.

Most overrated HC of all time, no question - he'd have been fired 5-6 times by now on any other team. He has absolutely lucked out in life, close to a 20 year HC career and no-one can name one thing he's any good at from an X's and o's perspective. 4 seasons out of 19 with a playoff win...

The Rooney's have literally wasted at least the last 10 years on him.

Will anything change? - will it ****.

Thats my argument also. I get blasted here about this but who else is out there?

Go on any fanbase discussion board and all the coaches suck.

    Educate me....who else?

I wish I had access to seeing how many sexy OC/DC/HC candidates show up and where are they now after a couple years.

Fear of failing is never a reason to try and improve.

I suspect the coach they hire wont be a household name anyway.

As soon as Mr. Rooney reads this message board, he'll fire Tomlin for sure.

    lol

Think about the coaches we could have had in the past several years instead of settling for this dipsh*t on the sideline.

Most recently, I think Vrabel would have been a nice pick up. But an owner who actually cares about winning got him instead.

Yes, please take him, that would be ONE less team the Steelers would have to spend any time worrying about. I only wish Tomlin was the head coach of all the other teeams, then it would be 17-0 and record-breaking season, even if our head coach was Mister Magoo, Homer Simpson, Mr Bean, Mister Ed, trash can or a cracked fire hydrant.

Sounds like another season of excuses to me. This isn't just this year, this is the past 10+ years.

Of course there are worse coaches out there. If your rallying cry for keeping Captain Airhead is "We could be worse", you may want to rethink your whole position.

I am all for risking a step back to take the three steps forward we need to be another dynasty over the next 10 years. I'd rather risk 3-14 season than stay with this 9-8, 10-7, 8-9 non-sense of pretend contention.

Stay mediocre or risk being great. I'd like to see the Steelers in another Super Bowl before I pass on (probably have 25 years left) and that isn't happening with Mike Tomlin in black n gold.

    This discussion gets old.

I have yet to hear anything for firing Tomlin that isn’t rooted in unrealistic expectations.

All those unmet expectations - they’re totally arbitrary benchmarks made up by passionate fans not standards based on dispassionate analysis of the only real comparison - other NFL teams.

For instance, Tomlin won more games with more injuries and similar lack of WR talent than Reid and the Chiefs. And Reid had Mahomes.

Tomlin lost more games than the Bills with similar WR issues and defensive shortcomings. The Bills have Josh Allen.

Give Tomlin a Josh Allen and the missing wins show up.

Yeah the past 10+ years of humiliation and disappointment should be disregarded. We need another couple of seasons to be sure Tomlin is the clown he seems to be.

;^) I rated your post hilarious because its true, sad, but true.

So you like Tomlin or the football he trots out every year. You obviously like being disappointed.

But most of all, you love finding an excuse, probably every season the past 10+ years, to let Tomlin off the hook.

We disagree. I want to see good football again. If you swapped Kyle Shanahan and Mike Tomlin, the 49ers would be 6-10 and Steelers would be 11-5 (or better), with the same rosters. Few would/could argue against that.

The 49ers are banged up and depleted, true, they have a capable younger QB, but he was made capable by a good coach.

I am sick of Tomlin and all the excuses. He is NOT AN NFL LEVEL COACH. He would be well-served to go coach high school JV and learn from a good high school head coach.

When Vrabel had similar QBs to Tomlin post Ben R..he had a worse record. When he had better QBs than Tomlin post Ben R but a worse QB than Ben, he was one and done in the playoffs. What will Vrabel achieve with an MVP caliber QB? We will see.

Vrabel, to date, is worse at winning regular season games and worse at winning playoff games than Mike Tomlin. Next candidate.
