Except...DK is at work, and his work happens to be on National TV.

The league won't condone players to physically go after fans anytime they say something they don't like.

I think DK definitely gets something... his saving grace is he caught air on the wig. If he would have connected I think they probably would have suspended him the rest of the season.

I am not really debating or doubting that the league is going to fine and/or suspend Metcalf for his actions in his workplace.

I am just saying that from a personal point of view, I do not have a problem with it. It sucks if it costs the Steelers a victory. I will be grumpy about it. And if and when more information and details come to light, I could revise my stance on all of this.

But, working from the assumption that the fan specifically targeted Metcalf for personal and race based abuse...then, yeah, punch the dude in the mouth. He deserved it.

Look at how big Metcalf is. I would never dream of calling Metcalf anything but "Sir". Mostly because I don't hate anyone but also because I have become partial to all of my teeth.

I saw an interview today with one of the media guys in Pittsburgh saying that Metcalf told him he prefers that people call him DeKaylin, but nobody can pronounce it correctly. There is no way in hell that is all the fan did to prompt that reaction.

Remember when Footballanalyst tried to convince the board that it wasn't offensive or degrading for two black guys to use the word and he knew that because he himself was black. I always want to tell him in no way am I telling a black person how to feel about racial slurs but it is and always will be a vile, hateful, degrading term no matter who uses it or the context. The change was that the black community especially young men tried to own and blunt its impact on them and the world at large by doing so. It didnt change the word.

But again not sure its my place to say that to someone who has grown up hearing it thrown at them in order to degrade them.

You do know this was in the middle of the game right. You see DK is the only player over there; his teammates are all playing or watching the game.

DK is the only player at the stands screwing around with the fans. How is this 100% right?

That's why I'm sure it will be a fine and possibly a gm suspension because why the league and Union will be absolutely behind Metcalf defending both his name and his mom's behind closed doors. They also know fans pull the cart and tarnishing the shield in such a public way means they have to show they protect fans....but only so far. Throw a snowball or battery in a snowball and you are out for life.

 

Didn't look like a punch to me at all. I've never seen a man punch a guy with a open hand. Looks like a shove. A side look shows it the best.

 

Why wasn't Lamar Jackson suspended for a shove.

Seen it on NFL network this morning on break. They show a side shot, and he never punches him. He let's go of the wig, and shoves him , open handed. If he gets suspended, and Lamar Jackson didn't, for the exact same thing, it will prove what I've said about the NFL, and Jackson.

 

This will sound trite but for the same reason Farve didnt catch any flak for publicly admitting he was an alcoholic and addicted to pain pills. MVP status. Lemar former MVP was in the running for another last year. A public relations snafu by him shoving a fan looks bad. So give him a fine and issue a public apology and everything is fine.
