It's funny when Warren has a decent game you guys want to brag about it, but when he rushes for like 20 yards and gets outplayed by Gainwell you guys are quiet .

I never wanted as much as now to trade or cut a player before.
I'm looking forward to 2026 season the teams chance of winning our first back to back super bowl in some time, but foremost
I excited about the RB debate to come.

Warren just had a TD run that was almost 10 yards longer than Najee's career long. Put us up by 13. Those are the plays that make a difference in the running game in today's NFL.

Warren also isn't good at those game breaking plays. But his probability of doing things like that is higher than Najee's.

It would have been interesting to see what would have happened to Najee in the draft if he ran the 40. Wonder if he would have fallen out of the 1st. Or if we would have not cared because we generally don't care about having a fast back.

Its good to see an actual big play instead of talking about success rate.

Again, the discussion seems to have gone over your head Felt.

You need to look at both YPC and succ%. Warren's YPC was the same as Najee's before this game (although it will likely go up now because YPC is tell you how many big runs a RB gets). But his succ% was almost 10% higher.

So Warren hasn't been good this year. Najee wasn't good last year. But Warren has been better this year than Najee was last year (low bar).

This is pretty funny Felt!!! :drinks:

Another run that's ~ 10 yards longer than you're boy's longest run (in ~1,100 carries).

Great blocking on both of these carries. But Najee almost certainly gets caught both times. Because he's slow.

With 2 games left, he has 828 yards and a decent shot at a 1000 yard season.

Based on my math, its 4.5 ypc. Gainwell is at 4.9.

Najee would be RB3 on this squad by a mile. We seriously need to pay Gainwell in the offseason and keep this tandem moving forward. They are electric.

It's nice that we get a real-time lesson in how means work today.

Before today's game, Warren's mean yards per carry was 4.0. Not a good number.

Despite having most of the season in the books, he then has two huge TD runs for a total of 90 yards!

It hasn't been updated on PFR yet, but I get his YPC to be 4.476 (they will round to 4.5).

If he didn't have those two monster carries, his YPC would still be 4.0 (4.0327...where before the game it was 4.006)

His "mode" and "median" yardage likely didn't change. Without having the data, my guess is that these values are going to be pretty similar for all non-terrible backs in the league. But he had two monster carries.

And despite the fact that he has 185 carries, those two carries shifted his YPC up by 12.5%!

Because YPC is a measure of how many of these big runs a RB gets. QED.

As I said in my original response to your comment here: There is a reason that we report median incomes in the US. Means are misleading when there's a long tail in the distribution.

I still think the same as I thought before.

We should bring him back because he's under contract.

And we should have significant competition for him at RB1.

I'm glad that he got those two monster runs. But I'd still love to have someone that can do it more frequently.

I don't think we'll bring Gainwell back because he'll probably be too expensive. He also had a great game. With all the crazy stuff that happened at the end of the game, I think many will forget the awesome TD he had at the end of the first half. It's kind of like Harrison's INT return in the SB. I think way more people remember the amazing throw / catch by Ben / Holmes at the end of the game. But the Harrison play is just as impressive.

I’d prefer us to pay Gainwell. He’s still not a premier starting back. He will cost no more than 5-6 mil a year and having him and Jaylen together is awesome. They’re a great duo, and they essentially split touches (Warren more rushes and Gainwell more catches). They’re both excellent at their role and are a very huge part of this offense. No reason to let Gainwell walk. He will be worth his market rate.

Warren is already under contract though.

And if we can get a legit RB1, Warren is also very good in the RB2 role.

I agree that Gainwell has had a great year. But I don't think it's a good idea to throw money at a RB who's having a career year by far in year 5. Plus, if we can get another legit NFL WR, I think it would massively eat into his targets.

Ultimately, I want us to get a real RB1. And that means that one of Warren or Gainwell would be moved to RB3. And we already have one of those guys under contract for a reasonable price.
