That man played amazing for his first NFL start. He did not need any help. Dylan was cookin'

He played better in one game than Jones in almost all his games as a Steeler. More please.

I know -- small sample. Tomlin wouldn't know a good LT if it bit him in the rear. We waived him and re-signed him due to injury.

A left tackle of the future? Could be.

He looked good, and played beyond expectations

So many seasons we saw a revolving door and Cook put up a wall. Dude was solid all night.

His talent was there to see in recent preseasons, but somehow our coaching staff preferred to keep Calvin Anderson, and then switch to playing a LG (Peat) at LT. To my eyes Cook is clearly better than those guys, and I didn’t think it was even close between him and C. Anderson in preseason.

I’m glad to see him get an opportunity to prove in regular season games why he’s a keeper. Can he be a starting LT at the NFL level? I don’t know, but he’s definitely showing something. The Dolphins edge rushers aren’t special by any means, but they are decent players - especially Chubb.

He may or may not be a long term starter, but he's at the very least a quality backup for the long term.

See my post elsewhere. Not convinced he is all that in run blocking. They ran away from Cook's side.

I will repeat this until I'm blue in the face. It's true at least 90% of the time for all tge NFL, and for some reason people pretend it's not.
If a team spends draft capital, and money on a player, they will get more chances than someone with less draft capital spent on, and , or money, until they just can't anymore.

Pre-NFL Dillon Cook has been a Right Tackle his entire life, just like Troy Fautanu has been a LT his entire life.

Last year I was really hoping the Steelers would play Cook at RT and Fautanu at LT. If we had a better O-Line coach I think this change would have already occurred.

I have been pushing for Cook the last 2 years at RT.

Cook looks to be a legit LT. Hopefully he is Villanueva 2.0 who was a UDFA.

Bubba raised a good point. I'm not sure how good he is as a run blocker.

That said, his work in pass protection was impressive. I certainly feel more comfortable if he has to start again. That could happen either if Peat is still out or if Seaumalo has to miss any time.

Broderick consistently uses poor technique, anything is an upgrade.

Let's calm down. Cook proved he has the baseline physical and technical ability to play in the NFL last night. Previously, that has been in doubt.

Ever notice how sometimes a back-up OL comes in and everyone is amazed that he stymies some reputable pass rusher?

Ever notice that when big time pass rushers talk about how to succeed, they talk about preparation and study?

Put that together....there is no "book" on Cook yet. Let's see what happens when there is some film to study.

To say Dylan Cook didn't do admirably would be shortsighted. In the same vein, to say that Dylan is now ready for the NFL due to one start is also the same. Who knows how Dylan Cook will look against Aidan Hutchinson and the Lions?! I do so hope for the best but there is still too much insufficient information on how well Dylan Cook can be.

Now, should he pass his test against Aidan Hutchinson?! A good step in the right direction. Against the NFLs Final Boss in Myles Garrett?! Now you have something to work with.

Until then?! I am cautiously optimistic.

For argument sake, let's say Cook balls out the final 3 weeks, does this make Broderick Jones expendable and what kind of return could we get for him. I wouldn't say Jones has been awful, but he hasn't lived up to high first rd billing either. If Tennessee spent $20m on a guy like Dan Moore, then I gotta think Jones would get at least that in the market, so i gotta think Jones is worth at least a 3rd heading into his 4th year.

    No it doesn't.

Just because Broderick Jones didn't finish the season doesn't mean he wasn't on the upwards trajectory. Again, even finding average Offensive Tackles in the NFL is very difficult; doubly so those that are young like Broderick and same go's for Dan Moore... someone who is an anomaly among OTs given both his snap count along with his age at the time of his signing. If anything, what should be the main question right now isn't if Dylan Cook has taken Brodericks job (he hasn't and will not).

The bigger question should be how Pittsburgh can use its resources in the upcoming draft if Cook does as well as many hope; myself included. That doesn't mean that Pittsburgh is going to give Broderick his old spot back but it does mean that perhaps OT will be lower on the draft board. Again though, this is all under the assumption that Dylan Cook exceeds expectations in the final three weeks; the playoffs no less.

The only coach I saw comfortable going against the grain in modern times was Bellicheat. He plugged in anyone that worked. F loyalty to veterans its a results business period full stop.

Yes,. Ever notice how our premier edge rusher disappears when he faces a sub or rookie tackle?

Playing consistently at a high level is different from having a good game. Once a player has some tape he gets studied, dissected, on weaknesses. Like the book on Jones being easy to beat to the inside. Cook's book is still to be written.

    This.

Thankfully, the 2026 NFL Draft Class is chalk full of them. Vega Ionae from Penn State is the crown jewel and one of the best Offensive Lineman Overall in the entire class. I don't have him ranked as high as Donovan Jackson from Ohio State but I do believe he has more functional strength and more technically sound.

If looking for Day 2 to three options?! Brian Parker II from Duke, Austin Siereveld from Ohio State, Cayden Green from Missouri, Bryce Foster from Kansas, Logan Jones from Iowa and also Gennings Dunker from Iowa as well.

Plenty more than that. Just some of the more notable players I have watched.

Who's pretending it's not? All that was said ahead of your post was that Cook did well with his opportunity yesterday. Hopefully if he continues to get chances, he'll continue to perform. There's not much more to read into at this point.

This wasn't meant for just today. It was meant from many times, and Yes there was reference to it like, not exact quote, but why he hasn't been used before, and how could they see him in practice, and not have been using him. To do that you would take a guy you gave a 1st round draft pick, and lots of money for off the field.
