When evaluating if someone can be a valid source of information, you should start by asking two questions. Do they have access to the relevant information? What biases might they have that would affect how they share that information?

Yes, he was part of the team long enough to have access to that information, but it is hard to trust that he isn't being guided by his biases rather than reality. They never let him play much, then cut him loose, so I doubt he has many warm and fuzzy feelings toward Tomlin or the front office.

By this logic, the only people who we can take feedback from are current players on the 53 man roster. No reporters, no posters, no observers, no other PS members. Whatever his role was, this is a guy who has been inside the locker room, and the locker room of other teams (Chargers, LSU, Texas Tech). He may be wrong, he may be lying, but he is providing an insider's view, and maybe a scrub player has a broader perspective than a star player.

 

I don't know about that. A bias for a guy like this might be "they can't evaluate talent" or "they rely too much on starters and don't give the depth players more chances". Those biases will explain why he never got a fair chance in his mind.

What he said is a very direct accusation and doesn't really affect his former position on the team and why they never gave him more of an opportunity - which in his mind he may have deserved.

This attacks the entire team, not just the coaches who didn't give him a shot.

The entire comment is an attack on the coaches. If there are fractures within the team, that is at least partially the fault of the coaching staff. My point is that he could easily be very bitter about his time in Pittsburgh, which means it would be wise to take anything he says about the Steelers with a grain of salt. That doesn't mean he is definitely wrong. He could be reflecting things perfectly.

Other than that, he is revealing that fan favorites like Herbig or Zach Frazier are toxic.

 

Bottom line is half the games are getting stinky to watch. That's not good for business.

 

Too bad you chose to make the false equivalency here. I was comparing what Tomlin knows to what Pickens knows. If you think that you as a fan know better than Tomlin, how can you say fans wouldn't know better than Pickens?

I don't expect you to concede anything because that isn't what you do, but you clearly missed the logic of my point when I first made it.

The same offensive coordinator hasn't run the offense that same way throughout his career. You missed that, too. Also competent coaches can adapt their systems to their team's talent. When you have a pair of stud receivers and you don't have a Derrick Henry at running back, you put more of the focus on those stud receivers. It's not that complicated.
