The last two games looked very much like Canada offense.

I would said the entire season.Always a run or a pass behind the LOS on second down and 10,nothing in the middle of the field from 10 to 20 yards, etc

He ain't wrong. The Arthur Smith Offense is the same as the Matt Canada Offense is the same as the Randy Fitchner Offense. Low T is the only common denominator.

I went on record when we hired Smith as being against it and totally not impressed....
I thought it was a lazy hire and lacked imagination, just as his offense did.....

I also remember being scoffed at ..... how's that looking now???

Without turnovers we probably would never score.

That's an interesting observation from Ben because to me the last few games Rodgers has played looked a lot like Ben's last three seasons. Need 4 yards throw it 25. Wide open man at the sticks throw it into dbl coverage five yards beyond it. Chance to put the other team down 14 squander it by a 1st down deep shot that is poorly thrown, 2nd down draw play that nets 1and a half, third down scramble and get sacked for a two yard loss but its ok make it up on the next possession.

I don't think the offense is as bad as Canada's we keep hearing about how open guys like Wilson and Muth are on most plays, QB play has fell off in a big way since the beginning of the season.

I agree that Matt Canada's offense was historically bad, in fact legendary bad. I hope for the game of football, from pee wee to pro, that Matt Canada never is employed at any level.

Some will want to drag Tomlin in on this. It doesn't work. It is Austin and Smith who come up with the plays to work against opponents. Tomlin does have input as the Head Coach does, and may say he wants to see a play that does something he wants to see. The DC/OC still can choose not to play it.

What Tomlin's part is to stick with these guys if their stuff is not working, like Matt Canada's trash. At some point, you'd expect Tomlin to look over at Austin and just say "Do you have anything in that book that actually works?"

I even saw a quote somewhere that had Rogers calling plays. Rogers is one of a few QB's that should have that ability. You can bet he knows that playbook as well as Smith does.

Well the real reason once again is because this is ultimately Mike Tomlin’s offensive strategy. He just uses different puppets to execute it.

    FIRE MIKE TOMLIN!

And there are people that think keeping Pickens would have magically made this coaching staff come up with better schemes. And had they just kept Pickens and not brought in DK as I admit would have been the better move, Pickens would be used as DK is now but at least you wouldn’t be wasting 30 million.

It wont get better until we have real offensive minded coaches here.

This offence has been in place since before Canada came to town.
This is a Mike Tomlin philosophy.
3 different coordinators, same BS scheme.
Too scared to use the middle of the field, but talks such a big game about not living in his fears. He's such a joke.

That monster set they are using to try and jump starting the run game has been exploited now. They tried it in that first quarter on Sunday and Buffalo put all 11 guys in the box. They had their CB lined up 5 yards off Metcalf but walked both safeties down in tight. Sure if Warren makes it into the second level he will bowling ball guys but there was no fear that Rodgers would hit Metcalf or a TE on playaction to back them off. They need to dictate to the defense instead of the defense demanding a 3te set utilizing a spare lineman.

There's a lot of things one can blame Tomlin for but insisting he designs both offense and defense, as my friend said the other day, "that sh!t just doesn't flush."

But there is a myriad is issues, he does have his fingers in.

I was on a different board but I HATED the Smith hire. I know he is in his 40’s but he looks old af and his plays look old af.

Everyone kept talking about 2020 in TN with Derek Henry like it wasn’t DEREK HENRY that made the play action so deadly.

He was sh!t in ATL and fired because he refused to use his best weapons in the red zone and surprise.. we see the same thing happening in Pittsburgh.

Fingers in many pies as the saying goes.

But I think the offense and defense is designed around his philosophies. Coordinators have come and gone but the same problems remain, that points to Tomlin, the one constant.

Canada’s offense was better. At least we took deep shots to Pickens on the sidelines.

This is a joke of an offense.

and no, Tomlin isn’t designing the plays but I have a hard time believing Canada and Smith didn’t have any pass plays over the middle. Tomlin is the one instructing them to avoid the middle.
