Misery: Where you at?

I'm probably in the "Meh" category. But I think it's because my expectations for the team weren't very high this year.

Before the season I thought we'd be a team fighting until the last week for the 7th seed. Best case would be we get in, play one of the big 3 QBs and lose big. Have a draft pick that's in the early 20s where we can't get a QB.

Now: We probably need to sweep the Rats to get into the playoffs (which won't happen). We'll hopefully get a picking in the mid teens...early would be better. Then we can try to trade up if there's a QB we like. Or use all the picks we have to try to shore up the many holes we have on this team.

The case for optimism: I don't think that Rooney fires Tomlin with so much guaranteed money still left in his contract. But maybe (1) the poor D and (2) the prospect that Tomlin doesn't get his contract renewed after the 2027 season has us hiring a high end external DC (Austin's contract is up this year). Our D looked really good when Flores was here and he could add some spice to the basics of the Tomlin D.

 

I do not mean to pick on anyone, but the Flores comment is a great example of some of the ignoring of context that is taking place.

Flores defense looked awesome in Minnesota when the other side of the ball was scoring points and sustaining drives. Now that the Minny O is a shambles (one of the few offenses more unwatchable than the Steelers), Flores defense looks pretty dang bad.

You can not expose your defense no matter how well coached or expensive it may or may not be to as many plays as the Vikings and the Steelers defenses are. This is the NFL...you are going to get pantsed every time.

 

The vikings defense are not that bad this year if you look at the advanced stats....They are 5th in yards per drive and 8th in points per drive against.The steelers are 28th in yards per drive and 21st in point per drive and the opposing offense have 6.8 play per drive,the most in the NFL

The ball security is not great on offense for the steelers(14th in the nfl with 14 turnovers) but the vikings are last with 26.For the defense,the only thing they are better that the vikings on defense are the turnovers at 22 for the steelers vs 11 for the vikings

I agree our offense isn't helping the defense, but for a unit that has a lot of the salary cap on defense, it's not good.

 

Yes it's a total dumpster fire for Steelers. The O sucks. The D sucks. Even the punter sucks.

This much suck doesn't happen over night... it's been years in the making. If it wasn't for trust funds, the current Rooney would be begging for food on the street.

 

Speaking of Steeler fans where is Jeh and STD? I haven't saw a post from Jeh in two weeks. STD posted on the game day thread in the first half against the Bills but hasn't been heard from since the Steelers second half collapse.

 

You want to watch Steelers Fans heads explode... Here is what I am rooting for.

Steelers Finish 8-9
Steelers win the AFC North
Steelers then go on to win a Playoff game.
