I would hope the Steelers would hire a leader of men, able to get
Maximum performance out of the players potential. Noll like.

    They did this.

    First with Cowher.

    Then with Tomlin.

I get that we're all disappointing with the last few seasons.

But I don't know that any coach would have done as well as we have since Ben's injury.

Tomlin's good at scraping by with low talent offenses. Not unlike Cowher. Unfortunately, the league is making it harder and harder to do this. So it really sucks that we blew this offensive rebuild (Kenny, Najee, Pickens, maybe Jones gets a 2nd contract, but he's certainly less than we hoped for, etc).

Does anyone truly believe in their soul that Tomlin can develop a QB if we draft one next year?

He won’t let him throw in the middle of the field for the first few years of his career.

Maybe by his second year Tomlin will let him throw past the sticks.

With this FO I have no idea if this is Tomlin's last season. I wouldn't surprised if they extended his contract another 3 years. What I do know is the Steelers will never go anywhere with Tomlin as the HC.

I've never seen the calls for Tomlin to be fired so loud. However there are still the Rooneys to consider. They have not fired a coach since Noll was replaced with cowher. And on top of that you have the Rooney rule. They will not fire Tomlin. It's hard to understand why they would keep him. But here we are. I'm not sure what the problem is with realizing when a coach has run his show to the end. Look for them to make changes at the coordinator positions but that's it. On we go

There are rumors that the NY Giants would like to have Tomlin. Would you Guys give up Tomlin for Jackson Dart and a couple draft picks. Exile him to NYC

Hell yes. But I don't think even the Giants would be dumb enough to give up Dart in exchange for Tomlin.

Considering the relationship between the Rooney's and Mara's I'd expect a trade to look like this: Steelers receive the Giants 2026 1st and 3rd, and the Giants receiver Mike Tomlin and a 1st Rd pick. It's on the low end of draft capital compared to precedence of prior coaching trades.

    A different take

Tossing all the fan noise to curb. The conventional wisdom and/or justifications from NFL people is that Tomlin is not finished.
It's almost unanimous across those insiders that know him best.
And I know some don't want to hear it, but a ton of finger pointing is instead pointing to the Front Office with most saying "lack of involvement"
I'm not sure how this works in that line of reasoning.

Would Art/Dan sit Tomlin down and say, "look, this isn't working as we have it now. We want to just focus on coaching."
    I dunno.

The way I see it, and trying to make the insider logic work is that it would have to mean Tomlin would have some say in these areas:
    - Players. Of course he should. His staff should have an idea of what players and types would maximize the team. So I would say yes, but his decision carries less weight. This would mean the front office has to step up their game and be more involved if that is not the case.
    - Coaches. This would be tough, but you have to be open for upgrades and look for innovation. Sticking with Austin and Meyers is no better than sticking with that clown Matt Canada for which they got pasted for. Tomlin must hold coaches accountable.
    - Draft. As a whole, the draft team needs to enter the war room with a better plan. When there is a valuable player that most definitely will impact the game and fits into your schema, you have to at least make better attempts to acquire that player, and pay those costs. Risk it for the biscuit.

I don't mind promoting from within, there is good in that. At the same time, innovation is a huge requirement in this NFL. The focus is primarily on offense - guys that can break off runs, guys that can make those catches, splash plays. Defense is kind of a secondary concern it seems.

I don't think Tomlin is open to any of that and I don't think we have the front office staff to usher in needed changes and growth directions.

I don't know how Jay Glazer. Adam Schefter or Ian Rappaport can justify Tomlin's remaining.

About the only way we "just watch" and see the Steeler sweep or even 3 win the remaining schedule is some sort of divine intervention. Personally, I have the Steelers with 1 maybe 2 wins.

I figure of Tomlin stays, not much changes. If he resigns, I'm a little worried about the skill set of those making decisions.

Those insiders seem to have a different opinion than the beat writers who cover the team. But I have seen even some of the national guys starting to turn on Tomlin.

Ian had a post today that would make this boards head explode, doesnt know what Steelers fans are complaining about.
