There will be a battle between the Johnsons-- will vs david and I believe Will wins out. He's quicker, a better blocker and has better hands.

I was excited to see a FB last year but we just didn't see him often enough or in the right places and I think after a year in this offense coupled with the renewed committment to the run we'll see FB Johnson on the field more often.

I'm not sure he's our "next" red-zone weapon but I'll say this. I said it so many times last year it made me sick. The FB is ALWAYS open!!!!!!!!!!!!! If he's used correctly during the year and as he puts plays on film he'll command attention as we approach and enter the red-zone and this is where I think he'll be that "weapon". Leave him alone and get burned or cover him and open some-one else up. I can't wait to see what our offense does this year.

The concept of Will Johnson having to defend his job against David Johnson is ridiculous. He's quicker, faster, a far better blocker, he can catch better, he can take handoffs, he's a bit of an actual threat with the ball in his hands, he can play special teams, he has experience with the system... am I missing anything? That's everything. To me this is like talking about Bruce Gradkowski challenging Ben. I don't doubt that there will be a "competition," but I hope Tomlin is seeing things the way I am, and this is all more or less formality.

I'm glad to see they'll use him more, if true. I don't really care how we get into the end zone, just that we get there.

I kept saying last year that WJ would prove to be the key to our offense.

Maybe an overstatement, but still - when he was used effectively, he gave the O a dimension we sorely missed with the DJ/McHugh/Davis experiments.

I agree, some media "experts" have said these 2 are fighting for the same roster spot...god I hope not... Will Johnson is not a TE and David Johnson is not a FB. Don't even try it!!!

will j will be fine. he's not a rookie anymore and the guy works his tail off to get better. he worked hard to get into the NFL and he isn't going to give that up because of a lack of working. he's a needed part of this offense. MT loves him too. i can see DJ making it until heath is healthy. paulson going down will give DJ extra reps at TE,not FB.
