I wasn't expecting him to put up similar stats to what he had last year with Miami over 80 receptions 800 yards and 8 TDs. But him and Rodgers don't seem to have much chemistry together he was supposed to be good after the catch, and for some reason Arthur Smith has Jonnu playing more snaps than Muth. And to think they added another year to his contract when they traded for him .

I looked and saw that he has 26 catches and thought ...WHEN? The guy is invisible. Only 163 yards though, that sounds about right.

Most disappointing is Slay for me. I thought we'd get a quality year out of him, but he's been bad. Thornhill too... from starter to cut. Johnson is another. Thought he'd push Gainwell for RB2 snaps, but he barely looks like an NFL player at all.

I swear some of these guys are just safety blankets for Arthur. Same as last year with bringing in guys that played in Atlanta for him and they saw the field a bunch but served very little purpose. Patterson would flash at times last year but others he got put in cold in unfavorable positions like 3rd and 8 and the run a draw to him which went nowhere. If the ran 2TE sets with both Muth and Smith and motioned him out to the slot or part of a trips stack I think it would be less of a tell for defenses but as it is Smith is the 2nd read most time for Rodgers and its usually on a 4 yard dump.

I had no expectations for Slay and figured he would be another Pat Peterson.

Slay should be observing Pierre right now. If you have little talent or natural skill has diminished you need to rely on technique and training. I have my issues with Pierre but he knows he can't out skill more talented WR's so he focuses on doing the right things to be in position to make plays. Slay still thinks he is top dog and can get by on half ass effort.

Jonnu Smith would be my close second. As far as disappointing players go?! I'd probably have to give that to D.K. Metcalf.

Given how he has still yet to fully connect with Aaron Rodgers, this late in the season?!.. man... not a good look at all. Really thought he would open up the Offense a lot more. At times, he has. More often than not though?! Not nearly enough.

As for Defense?! Initially it was Keeanu Benton but now it is Alex Highsmith. His production has still been solid but his injury history within the past two seasons is definitely something to monitor. His ankles have taken a beating the past two seasons. It is fair to wonder if Alex has lost some flexibility given how he is 28 but a 28 year old EDGE with such mileage in such a short amount of time.

For me Slay and Thornhill are not disappointing because I had super low expectations when I heard they got signed. Similar with Jonnu Smith. He was an Arthur Smith security blanket. Every OC gets one or two.

Biggest disappointments for me are Friermuth and Queen. Both are too well compensated to be as invisible as they tend to be. Freirmuth's inability to block has played him off the field. He doesn't separate well enough as a receiver to overlook how unplayable he is in the running game. Borderline waste of a roster spot. Maybe on a team with a better passing offense he could be a key contributor? Perhaps an off-season trade is in order?

Queen just runs too hot and cold to be the leader in the middle of the defense. He doesn't take on blocks consistently, preferring to run around or under them. When he can't pull it off, he gets totally washed out of the play.

i am definitely disappointing.....expected much more splash from him, thought he and AR would hit it off BIG TIME.

that said, 80 has crushed it.

    Offense is still juvenile.

thanks to Smith......and an aging Rodgers.....

Slay was good because he was a technical player. He was a good athlete too, but you don't get to be a good corner in the NFL with half ass effort or relying on athleticism alone. He was a great corner. He's just not the guy he used to be because he's older, lost a step, and is seemingly dealing with weekly "bang ups" with his health.

I would have never thought so few would be thrown to Jonnu, and so many to Mt Washington, but I'm certainly good with the results

Bigger disappointment than Slay. Although, at least Slay wasn't signed to a new 2026 extension like Smith was.

I also didn’t think it was going to be sustainable

Im 51. But seriously sports is littered with examples of very talented players who think that talent is ageless and they are still the big dog they were the year before and they chase that ideal until it wrecks their lives.

Ya I forgot he was on the team. Neither of our tight ends are thrown too much. Smith is a decent target as well so they need to scheme Pat and Jonnu into the offensive plays. I mean Rodgers throws almost every pass to DK.

People. The TE position has had 93 targets in 10 games. There is one ball, and depending on how many 3, and outs you go, only a certain amount of chances a game. Not everyone can get the ball, so Someone is going to be left out, and someone is going to be mad that this guy , or that guy isn't getting enough chances.

Jonnu Smith has the 3rd most targets on the Steelers at 38, behind Metcalf (62) and Gainwell (42). He is 5th on YAC behind Metcalf, Warren, Gainwell, Friermuth. He is 7th on +20 yard plays. He is 1 of 4 players to have a receiving fumble (Washington, Wilson, Gainwell).

At his current pace, he will have 64 targets with 44 catches for 277 yards. Tua averaged 36 passes per game in 2024, Rodgers is at 29 this year so that is a factor, but there is still a substantial drop off.

Is he worth the money? Not much to do about it this year, but for next year I would say no.
