He catches a lot of heat for the penalties but he really is better than he gets credit for.

And to think we could have added Donte to the team

He has played pretty well but you gotta catch those interceptions when you have the chance.

JP Jr. has bounced back in a very good way since his early season struggles from 2024. Mid 2024 onward, he has been pretty solid in coverage. Other games have been better than others but overall, Peezy Jr is the team's number one Corner. This team is in dire need of finding another one.

Hopefully that happens in the upcoming draft. Beyond the likes of the new big three in Jermod McCoy, Avieon Terrell (AJ Terrells brother) and Mansoor Delane, not too many others I would be comfortable selecting in Round One.

He was a starting corner just last year. Good player but I’m very surprised to see him rated this highly

JPJ has been very solid. He is never going to be a ball hawk, and that’s ok.

He led the Steelers with 5 interceptions last year.

I like what he's doing. I find him to be be just outside the top ten CBs in the league. I think he's a very good #1, but would be a great #2.

When looking at Porter you can not ignore the excess of penalties and the cost of those

    Agreed somewhat

He is improving as a defender he is not improving in the penalty area

He seems to think holding is part of his skill set

    Just don’t hold

He does nothing we don't see done by the opposing CB every game. He is just being made an example of. Just like James Harrison was at one time.
Also sine people need to realize that a penalty is sometimes a good thing as a DB.

    He holds a lot

    Disproportionate

And I’m not on board with the conspiracy that he is being made example of

When he is ripping the Jersey off of the WR the refs call it

    Don't know how it's a conspiracy.
The NFL, all sports have taken certain players to make an example of, hell throughout the history of the world certain people have been used to make an example of. .
In all honesty, you don't see other DBs getting away with the same things with the calls???
Let's just look at his last two PIs, one was actually a PI, and the other was a weak call, and now in that very same game I could see 5 PIs ,of the very same caliber, by the team we played that wasn't called PI. So either they are making an example of Him, or they are just for some reason calling him tighter than others. Your choice. Either way they aren't calling it the same.

He simply has a reputation for being handsy, so he's not going to get the benefit of the doubt like others might... it is what it is. He earned that reputation too.

I really think Porter is a nice piece. He's not an "elite" player, simply because I don't have him as a top tier cover guy (though, he's definitely CB1 category) and he just doesn't generate the turnovers you'd want him to. It's too bad because I think he's in position for a good bit more, but apparently the jersey #24 is allergic to catching. Oh well. He's a solid enough tackler in space (really improved here), and a quality cover guy. He won't get many turnovers and gets called for flags at a slightly higher rate than you'd expect. Now.... if we could only find a CB to pair with him, I think we'd be set.

Personally, I'd explore signing Greg Newsome as a slot guy who can play outside (he'd probably be the CB2 in the same way we used Cam Sutton as outside then move him to slot in subs) and then going to the draft for another outside guy. We can't have too many corners, and keeping Ramsey as a full time safety seems like a good move for the immediate future.

Even if He was the most awesome CB in the history of the NFL, I wouldn't let that keep me from getting more help in the backfield, but that is just me.

To be fair, the modern game needs you to have multiple really good corners... I know that you're a CB guy, but its definitely true. A CB roster of JPJ/Newsome/rookie/Pierre/Echols seems pretty good. Could even have another vet in there somewhere too. With Dugger and Ramsey as the Safeties, I think that's actually a good secondary.

His tackling along with penalties is holding him back.
